Wheel offset info for 4th gen from Japanese magazine>
I read in a Japanese magazine that the recommended offset
for 4th gen max is +45 front and +30 rear for 17 x 7.5 wheels.
Is there an advantage to having a different offset for the rear? and does anyone have that kind of setup on a Maxima

Well, visually those specs would be better on the car, because it would bring the rear wheels out to be more flush with the fenders. Stock, the rears wheels are tucked in more than the fronts.
Handling-wise, though, you're going in the opposite direction than you probably want to go. By going with +30 in the rear, you're increasing the rear track and making it corner better. By increasing rear traction and keeping front traction the same, you're increasing understeer, ie the tendency for the front of the car to plow straight ahead in corners. Since RSBs and everything else we typically do to the car tries to decrease understeer, widening the rear track with +30 rear wheels negates some of the work you put in to get rid of the understeer.
