problems starting

this morning my car wouldn't start. i had to crank it 4-5 times before it started. then later on today, i had to turn my key all the way and leave it there for like 3 seconds before it started. i don't htink it's a battery problem, as my car is making the starting noise, but nothing after that (as in normally your engine starts and you see your rpms go up). any suggestions fellow orgers? anybody else ever have this before? i just installed an unorthodox racing underdrive pulley in like... 3-4 weeks ago, but haven't had problems until now (i don't kno if that even has anything to do with it) i have half a tank of fuel left, so it's not because i am out of gas. thanks in advance.

could be alot of problems I had the same problem but it was because of the ground connections after my conversion. Might be the Starter best thing to do is go to Nissan get a diagnostic they will tell you your problem for like $270 bux thats what I did then go to another shop and fix it. good luck!

I see that you're in IL I live in Chicago and there are tons of shops around here. The bigger ones always charge for finding out the problem (Pep Boys is kind of cheap), but the small shops usually give you a free esitmate and tell you exactly what's wrong. Most of them know their stuff. I always go to the same mechanic for all my repairs so it's cheaper than the larger repair shops, plus he tells me exactly what's wrong for free. Sometimes I just stand in the repair area to see how they do it

There have been reports of people having engine problems caused by the timing rings on UDP's. It the crank sensor (REF) has a hard time reading the timing ring, you have starting issues and rough running engines.

Being your problem started shortly after the UDP was installed, it's probably safe to say that that's probably your problem.
