i took the car to mienekie for the cattmen motor mount install and they could'nt loosen the bolts to remove the factory mounts,they told me to first order more bolts incase they striped the originals . has anyone had this problem?

 

I haven't heard of anyone having that issue. Steve(DMB) replaced his. Try contacting him.

On the front mount I had to drill out one of the bolts.

 

Mine were stuck stuck stuck. Might not be able to get a air impact in there... use lots of leverage, I had to jack up on tools. Oh yeah, those cattman mounts, it wouldnt surprise me if they dont fit.

 

I used a 5 foot breaker bar lol to loosen mine. We could only move the bar about 4 inches in lateral movement, but we got them loosened....

 

Hit them with PB Blaster (AutoZone or Checker/Schuck's/Kragen) and they'll come loose. I didn't have any trouble here. Are you talking about the center bolts or the bolts to the cross member and frame? In either case, PB is yet to fail me in getting bolts loose.

Chip away any grime or built-up junk from the edges of the bolts, soak them with PB, wait 20 minutes or so, hit them again, wait 10 minutes or so and they'll come right off.

 

Whats the point of motor mounts? WHat do they do?
