Your Maxima post pet peeves?
Yeah, I've gotten nothing better to do with my life and I need to get out more
, but these are things that bother me when I read them on the Org:
1) "Struts cause rear end sag." NO!! Struts have nothing to do with supporting the weight of the car.
2) "My springs aren't even, they're sagging in the rear!!!" No, the rear wheel wells are shorter than the front therefore it give the idea of a sag in the back. Put a level on your car and you'll that it's level.
3) Low low drops = better handling. NO!! You need a compromise between wheel travel and spring rate. Wheel travel is extremely important.
4) "I ran at the track today and temps were 90 with 90% humidity". I seriously doubt it because those type of conditions would feel like 125 degree. Even in hot and humid Florida, humidity rarely goes above 50% in the day and that's VERY humid. Humidity burns off in the day and comes back in the cooler temps of the evening. Some places are definately more humid, but it's NEVER 90 degrees and 90% humidity. Go to www.wunderground.com if you ever want to see the historical conditions of your city the night/day you raced. I noticed a lot of people lie about the conditions they race in.
5) "Alumunized piping will rust immediately so get stainless in your y-pipe." Stainless can rust too and most alumunized steel will probably outlast your ownership of the car.
6) "The 4th/5th gen Maxima doesn't have a rear sway bar." Really? Because there's a 1" bar that runs thru the beam axle and is welded to trailing arms. It sure looks like a sway bar to me and on my window sticker it says front and rear sway bars.
7) "Heavier wheels hook up better off the line". Yes, they might be less to prone to spinning, but you're initial acceleration will be slower.
Anyone else want to vent?

"I put 2 50" subs in my trunk with 16 amps.... The springs I have are now sagging, what should I do?"
Anybody ever hear of gravity?
Any car will sit low in the rear with 200 lbs of audio equipment in it's trunk.

i disagree on the humidity. i live in south florida and it does get to 90% humidity and over 90 degrees at the same time. its ridiculas here. right now on aol it says 83 degrees with 77% humidity and its almost 11 at night.

How about "dumb question here" or "noobie here".
"I modded my exhaust and now it's so/too loud."
"Whats the best spring?"
"Where can I buy (insert product here) for the cheapest price"
really just things that:
common sence could answer,
take some time to search for,
will just happen with modding.
I don't mind answering easy questions or getting peoples opinions, but sometimes things are just too silly (like what size bulb is in (insert light here). Its all ok though 'cus everyone on the Org is cool and we are a family (well sort of).

I got to disagree with the temp/humidity thing, too. Here in Louisiana, heat index was about 110* in the shade today. In the sun it would be about 125*. Conditions right now in Shreveport are 82* and 82% humidity. And it has cooled off, as the time now is 11:23 pm. It is too dang hot.
People don't drop like flies here because their bodies have become acclimatized. The human body is remarkably capable of dealing with temp changes. Someone visiting here from the north would have a hard time, just as a southerner visiting the north in winter would have a hard time (I'm originally from Ohio, so I'm a misplaced Yankee). It takes about 10 days for the body to fully acclimate to different weather and/or altitude conditions. As a Marine who's been in about all climates and places, I've learned this well.

My pet peeve is :
"aftermarket springs will make your max ride really bad".
the reason why your car becomes bumpy and it rides like its got wooden wheels is because you didnt replace the shocks. Shocks and tires are very important for optimal ride quality.

to add to the topic, i hate it when i read a post that doesnt make sense. seems like some people never got past 3rd grade.....
1. Anything that's been asked before one hundred fricken times.
2. After explaining to someone the solution that's been given a hundred times to the question that's been asked a hundred times, they waste precious bandwith trying to explain how their situation is different.

These two sites I found on a quick search should shed some light on this dew point issue.

It's just easier sometimes if someone answers your questions directly rather than having to do a search upon similar topics. It's not like any of these questions are totally absurd....except for the obviously dumb ones...but sometimes people just need their specific questions answered.

Let's clear up this weather thing once and for all.
Relative humidity is calculated from the current temperature and the dewpoint temperature (that is, the temperature at which the air can hold no more water). As the temperature cools and gets closer to the dewpoint, the relative humidity increases. During the heat of the day, the relative humidity is at its lowest because the dewpoint temperature isn't actually changing all that much.
Here's a link where you can plug your values in for temperature and relative humidity and get a dewpoint temperature. Now check here and you'll see that nowhere in the US is the dewpoint temperature above 75-80 degrees.
Dave Holmes says "Here in Louisiana, heat index was about 110* in the shade today. In the sun it would be about 125*. Conditions right now in Shreveport are 82* and 82% humidity".
For those temperature values, the dewpoint would have to be 76 degrees, and as you can see from here, Louisiana could easily have a dewpoint that high. He's way off with the heat index though, which usually only beats 110 in the desert southwest.
Now, let's try 90 degrees and 90% humidity. That would require a dewpoint of 86.7 degrees. That's not going to happen, and is therefore incorrect. The highest ever dewpoint was 93 degrees, but that was in the middle east and will never happen in the US.
So Dave B. is right, and I seriously have to get myself a life.
