Fiberglass New Bodykit project proposal #57274

I have the "I want to make custom stuff" bug again...

That being said, I can get ANY current bumper style made to fit a 4th gen so long as it is around the same dimensions.

The way it works is we get a 4th gen bumper, then get the bumper style we want... chop them up and bondo + fiberglass up a prototype that actually fits well.. then make a mold, then make a hand-made fiberglass bodykit detailed to have the best fitment.

The good news is that if I can ever get anything off the ground then prices would be around the $500 - $575 shipped range ($350 - $425 local So Cal pickup + installation for $100) for a full bodykit, or around $275 - $290 shipped, or $180 - $195 local So Cal pickup.

The minor bad news is that it can take about a few months to half a year to get stuff made.

I am not looking for deposits, and I am not looking for potential buyers... yet.

I'm looking for bumper styles you feel would go well on a 4th gen(Stock, Aftermarket) whether they be from other brands, makes, models, etc... and include a picture!

Just looking for front bumpers now, but eventually want to make a one-piece rear bumper with valences like Stillens but made so that it sits flush and doesn't look like just an add-on.

I'd prefer everyone post here instead of PM or e-mail.

Thanks,
Mario

i know there's a BMW M3 style front bumper out there already, but i think it's not simple enough for the 4th gen so i vote for this one...

I'm aiming at a bumper without the bumper lights.. if that becomes the case then I will make detailed photo instructions on how to wire your clearance lights so they can be used as blinkers. We might also consider throwing in some euro-clear 2 inch-long aftermarket side markers.

skyline R-34

hi. if you can make this one in polyurethane, I'll buy on the spot.

Redlinemax has a type-s/skyline kit, but the front bumper looks amazingly stupid/ not convincing.

if you can try to incorporate the grille (or make a separate grille) that looks like R34, it would be a turning point in the whole maxima.org's history.

the idea behind all this is to convert the car into a very similar GTR so we can bling on the road.

let me know.
thanks

If you ditch the fiberglass and make stuff from urethane you'll have more customers...

About the actual R34 GT-R bumper, I'll look into it but keep in mind that I would have to find a stock R34 GT-R bumper or whatever bumper is voted on.

As for poly-u or urethane... you want to pay $500 - 600 for just the front bumper? I don't have $10,000 to spend on a molding machine. Even if I got corporate credit or a loan to pay off the machine (and possibly an operator) then that would require me to sell at least 10 kits at $1000 each kit and that's not including materials. Even if I sold 20 kits at $500 each, there's no way 20 people on this forum will give a $250 deposit so i can cover my end. Not happening.

I was thinking of getting the lip made in either carbon fiber or urethane for the lowered folks, but who knows...

I know about how everyone loves urethane so please no more touching on that subject.

This is intended more for those who want a show car and aren't gonna run through every pothole or dip in the city with a fiberglass front bumper

I think the R34 GT-R front bumper is this one:

NOT this one, which is the VIS OCTANE (named R34 for some retarded reason):

i think your underestimating, if you can make a fiberglass bumper to show us how the thing will actually fit and look when its all nice and polished up, i'm pretty sure people would be willing to drop down deposits

I plan on making something for myself sooner or later. I'll document it and take pics, but as far as urethane, the operation I'm a part of is too small for that kind of stuff. I can only guarantee either having thicker and sturdier fiberglass.. or Grade A flexible fiberglass so the bumpers won't crack from nudging something.

I would like a carbon fiber lip, those look awsome. I have seen an S2000 and a NSX in houston with them. They look really good with carbon fiber hood.

MOTORREXX KIT MOTORREXX KIT MOTORREXX KIT MOTORREXX KIT

Im not sure of the pic bc im at work but it is a BAD-azz kit that they have made. IT's IDENTICAL to a skyline kit on the max.

If you make that , i will buy.
I have a pic at home , its a blue max with a few shots.
