2K2 SE vs Explorer.. i didnt like the outcomes..

Man, today i was driving to park at school ( Georgia Southern University ) - i was on campus going about 35 mph past a BIG line of traffic going the opposite direction, all of the sudden this red explorer pulls out ON me, not before, but he pulled out and the passenger door hits the front left nose of my car - the head unit is totally smashed a gigantic hole in my bumper, hood is bent and indentations all along the side of the car where his bumpuer slid down the side of my car, and ALSO he shoved me up on the car and now two of my after market rims are bent and tires blown out - i dont want to come up in some POS rental car - anyways here is a pic before the accident - ill get some after

SunliTMaxima, Did you call the cops? What kind of ticket did he get? Driving on the wrong side is a SERIOUS violation... you could pocket quite a bit of money from insurance if you play your cards right.

He wasnt driving on the wrong side he did a left hand turn and collided with me because i was already going straight and " he couldnt see becuase of the traffic" - i bet there is a lot to replace namely - 2 tires, the front bumper, both headlight units, drivers side foglight, an aftermarket rim, one door pannell, front and rear quarter pannels, not to mention anything under it thats messed up from hitting the curb or any engine bay damage like just metal peices - i wonder how much its going to get estimate - as for back injuries - im going to file a claim for custom 2k2 turbo money

it was the guy's freshman year he was all kind of like shaking and stuff and was like im really sorry - what i thought was funny was that i had an open coke that spilled on me during the crash and i pulled it back out cause i was thirsty in the sun and he was like, man do you have another coke by anychance, i was like nope all i have is this one and its being enjoyed by myself and about 75% of the front upholstery of my car as well as shifter - all in all i was lighthearted about it - it was my first wreck

Well that's at least good he was apologizing...but him causing a sticky interior besides all the bodywork would have sent me right over the edge on his @ss!

I hate it for you. I hope they can get it back very close to 100%.

Are you planning on keeping the broken headlights? If not and the ballasts are still good I might be able to help your funding cause.

Make sure you document your injuries, and let your ins. co. know too.

As for the lights, just please keep me in mind, I'm in the Atlanta area also.

BTW I really like your rims.

First off, let me say that sucks a$$.

Second, you got off easy. I've got a 2000 Explorer AWD and it could completely destroy my Max in an accident. The thing is tipping the scales at near 5000 lbs and would just run right though my Max at the right speed. I'm glad to see you are ok (or at least not crippled or dead).

If it makes you feel any better, the guy is probably spending $125 - $200 / month in gas...like I am on my 5.0 V8

Dont forget that if you claim serious injury they use investigators to "spy" on you to try and prove if your faking so they wont have to pay

btw-sorry about the accident

well you should be able too pocket about $300 from the headlight alone. Buy the casing from DAVEB from around $400 and let them reuse the ballast and bulbs. I feel your pain the same thing happened too me not too long ago

Since you're going to need two brand new headlights with the HID's, dop what I did. I had a similar accident and two new headlights were needed.

First- check if both ur headlights are still working.

Second- tell the bodyshop to take off the burner and ballast from the broken headlights and install them on ur foglights. And than you can have HID fogs and two brand new headlights, so at least you get something out of the whole accident, and it's not considered fraud since they have to order the two brand new headlights anyway.:-)

They match beautifully too, too bad my headlights ended up getting stolen and I swapped for 2k1 AE headlights.I still have HID fogs though.:-)

Don't let them give you a crappy rental. I am pretty sure that if it is his fault, they have to provide you with a comparable car. I would confirm that though.

I've seen several rental agencies actually renting out 2k3 maxima's... heh If thats not comperable to a 5th gen im not sure what is Hopefully you can get one and not some pos. Good luck, usually with accidents like yours where no critical components were messed up, the car will end up in better shape than it was prior. ie. HID fogs, freshly painted bumper, a couple new tires and rims etc.
