Any Reliable 0-60 times Yet for 2k2 6-speed Max

Have any of yall seen any reliable (published) 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for the 2k2 Maxima 6-speed? I'm not talking about your best guess but proven #s. Thanks guys. I'm starting to reconsider my possible BMW 330i purchase and instead:
1.) Continue to modify and improve my 2k.
OR
2.) Buy a 2K2 6-speed maxima and modify it.(CAI,Exhaust
suspension mods) AND then sell my supercharger if
it won't fit on the 2k2, or wait till 36K miles
then put that bad boy on the 2k2 6-speed.

I haven't seen any numbers on the 6spd yet. But damn that car is going to be sick with basic mods! Let alone an SC! The auto is pretty quick for sure! Current springs, side markers and RSB will fit for sure. That is all I have confirmed so far. I myself wouldn't drive a Bimmer unless it was an M3, M5, M roadster or 540 6spd. A modded 6spd max is going to lay a serious smack down on a stock 330 on the highway.

Have you test drove the new Auto SE? It is quiet and quick and reasonably priced. I see big time awards for the new 3.5 engine.

Buy the 2K2 6-speed and modify it. I think in the next 6 months or so we will see alot of new aftermarket parts for the Max since the Altima also shares the same engine, the Max now has the extra support for performance parts it always needed. So now companies will put more effort into developing stuff.

No I haven't test drove the 2K2 Auto yet but I have test drove the 3.5L Altima auto and wasn't all that impressed. I totally agree with you that a 6-speed max will be a serious performer. The ONLY two things I really don't like on the 2K2 maximas are 1.) You can see the lug nuts on the 17" rims and 2.) the rear tail lights. If opt to go for the 6-speed max I'm going to have the dealership I deal with switch out the rims on my 2K for the rims on the 2K2. I'll make this issue a deal breaker and hopefully I won't encounter too much resistence since the dealership will get to put brand new rims with rubber on my used 2K maxima.

Get them to do your RSB as well since it will fit.

Current SC kit definitely won't work on the 2k2.

I was under the impression that the new 3.5 engine is the same engine as ours, but bored out. If that is correct, and PRINCE NISMO is correct about aftermarket parts coming out for the 3.5, then wouldn't some of those parts fit our car? not anything that deals with the cylinders, but "other" things.

I can show you why if I can find a good 2k2 engine shot (coming from the passenger side).

Since 6-spds have not been made yet, it would be impossible to get reliable times from production models..

i thought the '02 on display at maxus this year was a 6 speed??? Could be wrong since I wasn't there, but I was under the impression that the 6 speeds were already in production but not released for sale until October.

Wait a min! You are thinking of the 2k2 Max??? I wouldn't do it....the 330 is much more of a car. How could we compare the chassis of a 3 series BMW to a FWD Maxima with a solid beem?? Sure the 2k2 Max may out accelerate the BMW but as soon as a turn comes up the BMW has all the advantage.

DMAN! do me a favor and drive both cars the same day and tell me which one feels better to you. As I always say RWD is always better, one exception is snow. Unfortunatly I live where it snows which makes me enjoy FWD over RWD in the snow.

BUT! I am in the process of getting a RWD car like the 3 series to fix my urge for power-on oversteer and many other fun RWD characteristics(sp). Everything I learned in race school was based off of a RWD platform, when was the last time CART or F1 cars were FWD!

Everytime I drive a nice RWD car I hate my Max.

yeah, I was at a BMW dealer the other day and the 330i was in the mid-40s! You can compare the base price BMWs becuase they come w/ NO accessories at all.
Only the 323i might come close to the price of a loaded maxima

Thanks, but I need a pic coming from the passenger side of the car. You can't see what's in the way of the SC in this picture.

Yeah and you also gotta look at the dimensions of the two cars, the max will have significantly more room. I've driven and ridden in a 3 series coupe and sedan, i'm 6'0 and around 215 lbs, I had no legroom and very little headroom. If I were shopping for a replacement for my max, I might look for RWD or AWD, but the car must fit my other needs not just my need for extreme handling or speed. Oh and it cost over 10 grand more.....

BMW 330i Hands Down Better Handling!!

I have test drove a 2K1 BMW 330Ci 5-speed and let me tell you that thing is probably the BEST handling sedan I've driven. That's why I'm seriously considering the 330i but the major issue is $$$ now! I might opt to put off my purchase till next summer when my 3000 stock options vest and I come into some serious coinage but for now I'm just kicking around ideas. I really don't hit too many twisties so straight line acceleration is quite appealing to me. Also the look of the 330i with the M sport rims is hard to beat even for the maxima.

Yep I'm with ya. Another car that is less $ but has the handling is the IS, but the car is a little ricey and boy carish. Like the old M3 with the box flares (remember)?

Finding a rear drive car that is a performer (for little money)is hard without going to the pony cars.

Well, right now when I get that urge I crawl through the roll bar, fasten the five points and hit the start button and do a few quick laps around the block in the ITC 510. Boy do the neighbors love me!
