I smell coolant every morning when I fire up my '03 SE. I only smell this immediately after a cold start and the smell lasts just a few seconds. I thought it was coming from the exhaust, now I think it is coming into the driving compartment through the ventilation system. Anyone ever heard of this? The car is going in for 3,750 mile service tomorrow to have head gaskets/compression check.

The service department is also supposed to investigate hood shudder, lame a/c and driver side window which will not stay up.

 

Any haze streaked on your windshield? Sounds like you may have a heater core leak.

It's probably nothing more that the radiator cap or the overflow. Check those first.
