Neon SRT4

Before anybody says anything. I know the Neon isn't camparable to the Maxima in any class, but this weekend while the org was closed down I went over and took a look at www.srtforums.com I can't believe that the SRT is as fast as it is. They have numerous videos of the little turbo Neon smoking Evo VIII, Vette's, Cobra's and in one video it's destroying a 02/03 Maxima at Englishtown, NJ. My question is have any of you here raced one these things? If so what was the out come? By the way the fastest 1/4 mile time I remember seeing on there site was in the mid 12's. Damn Neon's.

ya its a pretty fast Neon if you know how to drive it..the vid where the guy smokes the Evo was a waste, caust the Evo driver couldnt drive worth a damn...one of our members traded in his SpecV for one..and of course I had to take a joyride...basically a neon with *****, a couple mods such as theyre Stage1 kit etc..etc makes them really haul a$$...

I've heard of that Evo and Neon video too and my opinion is that guy couldn't drive. My bro just bought an Evo 8 and believe me that car is way fast...we launched it at 5000rpm in rain (yes the roads were slick) and the car just shot straight (no wheel hop ...nothing) and its fast. We also had a run in with a corvette (not a Z06) a couple weeks back and smoked him too. Evo if driven right will smoke that Neon any time....just my $0.02

Yeah my friend just bought one and the thing is really quick. third gear is a lil slow but over all i was really impressed. With some lil bolt ons that car can be dangerous.....but its still a neon!!!

I have the luxury of having friends with both. The EVO is a great car, but it has plenty of problems (cost cutting BS just to get the car in the $30K range). Clutch is weak, camber is off on front end due to slight imperfections in the strut mounts...etc.

Neon SRT4 is just a neon with a big set of nuts. It's the best and fastest for the money (and better than some cars which cost considerably more), but it also has it's shortcomings. Interior, fit and finish, paint...but the engine and tranny are pretty darn bulletproof. It would take a real idiot to damage either the engine or tranny in the SRT4...

Look a few posts down. I have a picture of my Maxima with both of them (and a modded Lightning). Post is called "Good gathering of vehicles..."

But yeah, that neon is FAST! But what's the point in it being so fast when it just breaks down around the corner after each race? lol
Well if you do your homework, you'll se that it's turning out to be the most reliable of the GenX muscle/turbo cars...

Wait until the 2 year point. That will really tell the tale...
