Try Mother's Back to Black or Meguiars Trim Detailer both work great for getting unwanted wax residue off of black trim.

Peanut butter (creamy) works well, too. I think it is the peanut oil in it that makes it work.

Try rubbing it with a cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol. This should remove it, but follow up with rubber trim dressing.

Yup, it's the peanut oil.

Instead of peanut butter, I just got a bottle of peanut oil. Doesn't keep it black forever, but for sure a lot longer than anything else I've tried.

It may take more than one application to get the wax residue off,but from what i've seen it does work, and plus it gives your trim uv ray protection and a nice sheen.

If you have real bad staining this is the routine...

- Get an old toothbrush and creamy peanut butter and use the brush to scrub the pb into the trim (watch the paint!). I wouldn't scrub hard, but I would do it for awhile...otherwise you will miss spots and need to keep doing it (which you probably will anyway)

- Wash the car making sure to really blast off the pb.

- Use back to black to protect the trim and make it look nice.

You'll probably have to do this more than once. I recommend doing it right before washing because leaving peanut butter residue on the trim leads to bad things. I finally got my trim relatively clean again after severe staining using Blitz Wax. From now on I am going to tape.

Try bug and tar remover, which will also dissolve wax.
