My 6spd Max VS. Lexus GS 400

Hey guys/gals.

My bro is buying a GS 400 and claims that he can take me off the line without a problem.

That car is 300hsp.

You think I can take him off the line or will he own me?

Thanks for the input

He is looking for the right one, he wants a 2001 Silver Premiere Ed. or something like that w/ black leather and chrome wheels...

Hard car to find.

They are Rear Wheel drive, and you are Front wheel. If you don't Hop and Jump around you should be Ok.

I raced one in my 5spd from a Start and it was pretty much Even until we got above 100, then I started to pull on him.. I hit 136 (redline in 4th) and shut it down. Was about 2 cars ahead of him.

I wouldnt be too excited about it. They run from 14.7 to 15.0+ At the track so till 100mph a 6spd max can and will whoop a GS 4.(note:driver of a 2k2 must be good) We had few runs 2 days ago from 60mph.

My little 5th gen pulled on a gs4 in second gear from ~60 and then he was gaining on me. But come on 300hp VS 222hp.

Same scenerio with gs4 VS 2k2 spd but they were dead even till 100mph

Ever since I put on my 18's I've learned how to launch really well without hopping around like before or spinning like crazy.

I can't wait till he gets the car so I can stand my ground.

BTW- We are racing for lunch haha

Unlike most powerfull RWD cars, the GS400 isn't the best car off the line. The GS400 doesn't have a LSD so when they launch, they usually sit there spinning 1 wheel due to the power from the V8 and no LSD. So if your friend gets cocky, he'll just floor it and if you're a good driver you'll just leave him. Once rolling though, they can move.
When i had my celica GT-S i raced one on the highway; even though he was gaining on me, it wasn't as bad as if i was going against a maxima.
Hope that helps.

I ran one on the highway once. It was newer GS430 and I was able to hold him off. We started with me being two cars in front around 70mph. I was able to pull another car on him and we stayed that way until I slowed down around120. He flew by me and gave me the look. He kept going, crazy guy.
He thought he could gain on and pass poor old Max very easily, but

They still pretty fast, especially for the size of tha car.

I raced my buddy in his GS400 (SRT intake, piggyback ecu) from a dead stop to 90 about 4 times.

I was in my '03 auto SE. The result was me pulling a car length and holding him off till about 85ish then he would just blow by me. The 3rd gear in the auto is to tall.

Off the line is where I would immediately pull a car length, from 30mph-85mph the cars were EXACTLY the same, then after 85mph he is pulls like crazy.

BTW the GS has no LSD which made my buddy spin himself to a 16.? 1/4 mile three times in a row. He would literally spin halfway down the track. We were pealing rubber off his quarter panel the next day.

Waitin for an opportunity to race one of those. It'll probly take me, but thats ok, its an overall superior car in my opinion. Love my maxima, but the GS400/430 = awsome, well rounded cars

If he doesn't have the car yet, you'll beat him if u can drive because i'm sure he'll just floor it thinking that's all he has to do and spin like a ****, or have traction control just kill the power to the wheels. Still a win win situation.

Run Moe's GS400 from SRT, he can spot you 100ft out in the 1/4 and still catch you. He will outrun any 2k2-2k3 on this board, I will guarantee you this...

His car is gonna be capable of 1000hp at the wheels, he built the first Twin-turbo GS 4 in america.....

you can drop a 2JZ In the IS300, GS400 or SC-300 and Take out a Porsche 911 Turbo .. Whats your point

we are talking about a Stock GS, not One packing T-7x or T-8x Turbos

Nice pic PIONEER. Is that crazy SC300 TT?
I saw some movies of his car, it is insane. The best one I love is when he starts behind two RX7s that ran 11s and Viper Venom 500 and he just pulls on them like crazy. Insane car.

Its a joke , the guy Moe is someone all the DC guys know. Cool guy and is a fan of all cars. Lighten up for Christ's sake.....

Plus he is doing a gs400 motor, twin turbo'n the v8 is original, not dropping in some Supra motor. He will have an original car that no one else can say they did.....

I'm sorry but in a straight line, the smart money is on the GS400; for goodness sakes, the thing is governed @ 155mph. It may be close UNTIL you hit the 130s (not that I'm advocating going that fast). Igor, if you guys run, be sure the put it on video.

And with all do respect to the Maxima/G35S/Acura 3.2TL Type S, the GS400/430 is still THE best Japanese performance sedan bar none! I'd trade my 2K2 Max SE for a low mileage 1999 GS4 if I could swing it for a decent payment.

Peace.

Original Idea True. But the Monster Jap motors are
RB25DET R33 Skyline
RB26DET R34 Skyine 1500Hp
1JZGTE Supra 89+ 700 Hp
2JZGTE Supra 93+ 1300Hp
2JZ-GE (Everyone and their Mama Use this motor)
SR20DET Sylvia, BlueBird .....
There are some others but from Toyota and Nissan These motors have proven Over and Over to Make Crazy Power
