Finally made it to the track with the 75 shot....

Well I made it to the track with the 02 auto Max now. Came away somewhat pleased and somewhat disappointed. It was a nice cool night about 68 degrees, it did rain earlier in the day though. And not to mention that the track sucks for traction. Anwyays here's the times.....

First run alot of wheel spin mixed with MASSIVE wheelhop.

60' 2.385
660' 9.553
E.T. 14.544
MPH 99.727

Second run rolled into the throttle, to cut back on wheel hop and spin.

60' 2.273
660' 9.419
E.T. 14.407
MPH 100.104

Third run pretty much the same as the second.

60' 2.323
660' 9.257
E.T. 14.228
MPH 99.811

Fourth run the same as the last two.

60' 2.371
660' 9.365
E.T. 14.336
MPH 100.319

Once again my mods are custom intake, CM TP, Greddy Catback, and NX wet kit jetted for 75 shot.

I was pleased because after the first run, I was just gently launching it. Didn't want to screw anything up since it's my parents car. I know with slicks and the track being prepped a little better it could be closer to what I was thinking it would run, mid 13's.

I only ran once before this without nitrous, and the damn MAF blew up ont eh second pass. But the first pass was a 15.0 @ 90 MPH. That was also when it was 100 degrees and alot of humidity. I know if I pushed it harder it would run faster times. But like I said it's my parents car. So I'm not blowing it up.

I never said the times were right, but the MPH is pretty close to what it should be. I said I gently launched it, meaning I didn't floor it. The nitrous is engauged through every gear, via a WOT switch and RPM window switch. Thus the reason why I had massive wheel spin and wheelhop. You can see that with me 60'.

your worried about blowing your parents car up, but your running a 75 shot? and your parents let you run a nitrous set up in their car?

what do you drive?

hmm, well maybe you should try NOT spraying out the hole then to achieve better times. No need to put all that stress on the tranny and axles...And you would run better times...

And a 2.2 is not a bad 60ft..

I drive what my name is a 97 Mistubiishi Eclipse GS-T. My dad is the one that wanted the mods, not I. It's his car and it's up to him with what he wants to do with it. And a 2.2 60' is terrible, sorry most of you on this board think that's good. I'm use to seeing closer to 1.8 60' out of a FWD car, with more power. The times will improve once I figure out th setup more. I would have ran my slicks but the wheels did not clear the brakes. And I wasn't spraying out of the hole. I said I rolled into the throttle, once I was around the 30' area I went WOT. I'm no stranger to FWD cars at teh track. This was the first time with the max and it's setup. I know it will improve over time.

Now why'd you have to go and say something about "this board" and make broad generalizations. You know as well as I do you're not cutting 1.8 60's in a FWD on regular street tires, and thats what these guys are talking about. You'd shoot yourself if you were running 2.2s on DRs or slicks, and I would too. No need to talk down to the whole board bro.

Looking at the times on the board it looks like most people settle for 2.2 as a good 60'. IMO it's terrible. I had my DR's from my eclipse on it, and was not able to launch like I wanted. I also wasn't badmouthing the board. I was stating what I observe as the general rule on this board. Sorry if you took offense. Thus the reason for the crappy 60' times. My eclipse has built head, HKS cams, ported intake manifold, GT30 turbo, tubular T3 manifold, Tial 38mm wastegate, full 3" exhaust for DP back, Greddy I/C piping, Apexi FMIC, nippon fuel pump, 625cc injectors, magnecor wires, Greddy Type-s BOV, Apexi AFC, Apexi AVC-R, Kaaz LSD, built M/T tranny, NX wet kit jetted for 35 shot, and 24.5x9.5x15 M&H slicks. I'm sure I'm forgetting somethings, and that's teh new setup. With my old setup and the automatic tranny I was able to pull a 13.6 @ 106 MPH with a crappy 60' time. Once again to me a 2.2 60' time sucks IMO.

Thats nice that your used to seeing 1.8 on your fwd DSM, obviously on slicks. You'd be a fool to think your gonna get anywhere near that with street tires on a fwd max. Youd be lucky to hit a 2.0 on street tires in just about any FWD car. So instead of speaking for everyone else, go practice on your launches or something...

I HAVE seen 1.8 60' times with the same slicks that I have on my friends eclipse. I never said I'd see 2.0 on street tires, like I said I'm not new to high power FWD cars. Eh, I'm through argueing, it's obvious that since I don't OWN a maxima I don't know what I'm talking about.

2.2 is a decent 60' on street tires for a fwd car. 2.1 is good and 2.0 is great. thats how i feel about it anyways. On my slicks 1.8s are normal.

No one said you didn't know what you were talking about. It seems you just have a chip on your shoulder for everyone that disagrees with you. It has nothing to do with what car you drive.

No need for the sarcasm. I never disagreed with you on your 1.8 slicks claim, totally believeable. I was just saying that a 2.2 isnt a really terrible time. Its pretty on par for an auto 2k2, so while you may think its terrible, there really not that much room for improvement...

What do you guys think I should run with my mods (short ram intake, y-pipe, sts) and a 75 shot? However I can only turn on the 75 shot in 2nd gear.

Well i cant speak for you, but i ran a 14.5@97 with a super slipping clutch last time. I have a new clutch in, ready to go, and it should be good for a 14.2@98-99-ish mph. Thats with a 50shot, Y-pipe, intake and spraying from 2nd gear on...

Im guessing with a good launch and good conditions, you should hit a 13.9 if not better...

I would have to agree with Eric

The times your fathers 2002 auto, doesn't seem right at all.
My roommate has a 2002 and its 14.6 thru a 15.0 in the quarter.
If you are spraying and know how to launch it, u should run in the mid to high 13's. I have a 96 max with a 65 shot of Zex ypipe and intake. I raced Eric and beat him twice when I was running a 75 shot. Thats also with his new clutch. He is saying he should be running a 14.2 I think he could do better than that. But that should tell you where I'am, if I'm pulling him 2 cars. I believe my car could hit mid to high 13's, and if it had slicks that would be a whole different story. Well Saturday night, last night I ran a 280Z, apprently he has beat everything out there, including me, At least everytime he comes out. Him a 5 spd with a turbo inline 6. We raced and we were neckand neck thru the quarter, he than pulled a car on me. He was surprised. My friend Hector was recording it on my cam. He was riding shot gun. Then we raced a 240 SR20DET raced him twice, took him 2 car lenths. Have all of it on video. Im very happy with my car. I also raced an accord V6 5 spd , I smoked him.

So you have a DSM, nice car! I like the mod's

lol ..i appreciate the enthusiam and coaching .. im finally starting to see a 2.2 once in awhile, and it felt great all the way through the quarter.

thanks for that little extra push ! im going for a 2.1 now, but i have no idea if i will ever see it. i can say this ..im going for some good drag radials soon, and if i can get some extra rims im going to try some cool slicks.

the toyo t1-s is what i got now. and take it easy on your pops car .. lol ! your 14.2 looked good, did your pops run ? I know if my old man did some racing I would love to put a whipping on him ! ha !
