Faded pillars between doors, exterior, what to do?
Anyone deal with this? They are supposed to be shiny, but the sun has really weatherbeaten them. I was thinking about some decal tape with a carbon fiber design, but it looked kinda cheap in the package so I didn't get it. Can that stuff even stand up to the weather anyway? Any ideas for my wifes 96 SE? Thanks!

Go ahead and repaint it yourself. I had the same problem on the used Explorer I picked up a couple months ago. My body shop owner buddy set me up with some 320 grit sandpaper and satin black paint(Morton Paint Co. #220-13,Satin Black,Bumper & Trim Coater).
Mask everything off carefully and lightly sand, clean and spray. It looks great!
I just looked at my Max and the black on mine is a satin color, not full gloss. Thats good 'cause full gloss is a bear to get to look good from a spray can.
The paint I used is a flatter color than what my Max has so you might try another brand.

I have the carbon film on my pillars and door handles. Go to http://www.ap-signworks.com for pics. It actually looks nice. I sell it too, in smaller amounts than the packaged rolls so you don't have to buy a bunch if you only want a little bit. You only need about 2 feet to do your pillars. And it is outdoor vinyl, so there are no problems with weather.
