I thought all along I was gonna get a Gs430, but i just dont want to spend the $$$$.

Cars I am considering (and yes theres a broad spectrum)

Lexus Gs430
Maxima (I would wait till the 2002)
Toyota Solara w/ TRD Supercharger
BMW X5
Acura MDX
Toyota Seqouia.

Like I said, I know they are very different. I just cant decide if im ready for an SUV now or wait till i have kids to get one.

So tell me what you all think

NO SUV!

I say GS430. Then you get all the TRD goodies, not to mention Rod Millen

How about this, tell us how much you are willing to spend, and we will try to pick the best car for the money.

Anyway, how about a BMW 330Ci or something? Very cute car for girl. Not too fast, not too slow, not too attention getting, not too shabby, handles great, hauls 4 people, acceptable trunk space... for under $40k.

get the acura mdx its a lovely car =) my parents have it. so fun to drive and not like a typical SUV. the ride is very good and handling is pretty good for a SUV. the X5 would probably handle better but have never driven one..

VOLTMAN....very true

WOODEAR....the 330 isnt eye catching enough for me, but it is a cute girl car...a good friend of mine has one.
I dont know exactly how much i wanna spend. I really LOVE the GS and always have and will probally end up getting it. My dad was making me feel guilty about getting that expensive of a car when i get the money. So thats why I started thinking of other cars I like

T2000J....I think the X5 is cuter, but the MDX got better reviews and drove more like a "car".

Emax95....I wish i had money to blow LOL I am getting a large sum of money soon and we are buying a house and my husband a 97 TT Supra. So i dont want to spend too much. I would like to invest some too.
Otherwise I would get my F360 Modena

DON'T get an SUV!

I would go with the GS430 (with an L-Tuned package), or the 2002 Maxima. Coupes like the Solara just aren't as practical.

And might I suggest as an SUV alternative when the time comes to haul cargo: An Audi A4/S4/A6 Avant?

You know what? In that case just get the GS430.
GS430 and SupraTT is a hot combo to have, well unless you have the dough for S600/F360

Try to rent the X5 from a rental company that specializes in exotics and suv's....trust me....you will love the x5, especially the way it handles on the open road, its handling is almost as sporty as an M3. You should consider the x5, afterall you only live once and besides what are you going to get another 4-door luxury sedan like the gs why not a luxury 4-door suv....variety is the spice of life

Ever check out the price on a X5? For the V8(which I think if you get it you might well go for the V8), it easily hit $60k before tax, too expensive in my opinion.

Thats almost up there with the Range Rover 4.6HSE but you have to admit that its the best midsized suv thats out on the market right now, better than ml430.

Man, I'd love to be in your position.....

Sounds like a really great setup. As for the car situation.

X5 4.4 - The winner by far. Combines the best of both worlds( SUV+ Sports car), along with some really awesome options but an expensive tag as well. If you can pull it off, I'd get an ML 55 if I were you.

Second on that list would be a GS 430 with every single feature available such as navigation, chrome 17's, HID, spoiler. Dont know why you left out a 540 is, cause that would be my choice in either 6spd/auto also with every single option. The GS is a dog when it comes to handling, I suspect the 5 series is a lot better, although I have never driven one.

I wouldnt want any of the other stuff except for the Max. It might be a gamble but it could possibly be one that pays off. Take this time to get a really good offer for your current Max and I think the new one should be out in september, maybe earlier. I know the motor will be solid with 260+ HP. I also have a feeling the new one might be RWD, perhaps feature HID?, as well as a 5 spd automatic perhaps. Then you can further modify, and feel good about yourself cause you have a fresh car that just came out onto the market and 20K savings in your pocket.

Last thing, a suggestion. The new Q 45 will feature a 340 HP motor, with state of the art HID( 8 little bulbs, looks awesome), also a bunch of incredible options such as power adjustable rear seats (I only remember options like that coming on Benz S 600's). The 0-60 time is around 5.9 seconds so very close to the GS 430/400 and it might even be faster in the quarter mile.

P.S. The LS 430 looks like a rich grandpa/grandma car. Very disgusting looking rims. Not nearly as good looking as the outgoing LS 400.

if you make money your parents

should have no say over what you drive. I mean, if you earn 150,000 per year, sure, you're pushing it to buy something as expensive as a GS430. But it's your business.

Someday when I'm a parent I hope my kids will have good values. Cars are a sure-fire way to make sure you never have any money. To me they're a toy to be bought when you roll in the dough. We should be satisfied with Maximas for now IMHO. Otherwise what's in gonna be in another 39 months, GT2? *lol*

Are you implying that a BMW 330Ci is a "Girl Car"? I was just wondering because I love the new 330i and I want to get one in a few years, but if I'll be driving a "girl car" then I don't think I want it!

No I am not implying that.
i am saying it's a cute car for girls, but it doesn't mean only girls will look good in it. Kinda like snow is white but not all white things are snow

Keep the Max and place an order for an M3

Get a used CLK (no stick though). And the new ones are kinda ugly.

New or used M5 would be nice too!

Get two cheaper cars (a Z and an A4 1.8T)

Just a thought

A6 2.7T

Fast enough out of the box, very fast indeed with mods.

The RX8 when it comes out looks to be a great car. if your making $150,000/year, and you think the GS430 would cost too much? I don't think so. The car is not THAT expensive.

Caroline, Caroline, Caroline.....

I'd say A6 2.7tt, but the 430 is nice if you want an automatic. And as has been said before, look into a nice sportwagon instead of an SUV....
