horrible times
just got back from the drag strip and my car is running horrible. 64 deg and low humidity i could'nt do any better then 14.7 at 94mph and a 14.8 at 93mph ,my 60 ft was 2.3's for both runs.usually a 2.3 60ft would get me a 14.4 at 97mph .i did'nt change anything on the car and ran with about 3-4 gallons of gas. the last time i got times like this it was 90 deg at the track.

The decent 60' shows the engine is still making decent torque, but the low trap speed suggests that you're missing a lot of top-end.
Are you sure your variable intake manifold is still switching over at 3800 rpm like it should? Stuck variable intake manifold is not a common problem, but not unheard of either. There are maybe a dozen or so 00-01 guys that have had this issue. I wouldn't be surprised if it pops up on the vq35's also.

Quick checks you can do yourself are the vaccuum lines (wherever they are) to the actuator and make sure they're not kinked or blown off. Try your hardest to figure out what is wrong and fix it yourself, because many the 00-01 DE-K guys that have had this issue have had a bear of a time convincing the Nissan service idiots that there was even something wrong to begin with.

Try searching in the 5th Gen forum with various combinations of "VIAS intake manifold stuck jammed" as your search terms and you'll find the old threads. Most of the threads will probably be 00-01 guys, but the key info to pick up on is how they got Nissan to actually fix it. You might find some diagnostic tips also.
reset the ecu ,drive by wire ,and checked for loose hose and wires. just got back from the track and ran a best of 15.09 at 90 mph with a 60ft of 2.309 . ran 3 times my highest trap speed was 91mph , i'm taking the car to the dealer monday.

i'm running a 2001 maf which causes a ses light so i borrowed a 2k2 maf ,reset the ecu and took it to nissan this morning. they did'nt find any codes , they said that bad coils ,vias controler and transmission would throw a code .i also had my timing advanced to 17deg a few months ago ,i'm thinking if 87 oct fuel was used it would cause a drastic decline in performance. i'll be going on the dyno later today hopefully i see some good #

That's not what I remember from the VQ30DE-K guys woes. The only things that will throw a code (usually) are things that can affect emissions. The VIAS has nothing to do with emissions - only performance - and therefore would most likely not throw an SES.
That sounds like an excuse to not do a warranty repair to me.

here 's an update. after 4 months and 4 dealers found out one of the problems was multiple cylinder misfire so i had the coils ,spark plugs , injectors and throttle body replaced and cleaned and now i dyno 188hp at 4800rpm and 226tq .
