Is there some kind of sensor on 2k2 Cat?

I asked because I like to replace my stock CAT with a Racing Straight Pipe to go along with a Cat-Back exhaust that I'm planning on getting.

I heard there's a O2 Sensor or something on our CATs so Would that cause engine check light to come on if I replace it with a straight pipe?
(throw a code)

I'm sure some of you may already have done this, I like some input on this thanks.
