i don't have pics, i was in a max in the junkyard the other day where i got my fog light stalk and noticed this. i don't have it in mine and wasn't sure what it was...sorry no pics, just figured i'd ask for the heck of it. small little button. i didn't really have time to examine it cuz the junkyard was closing up and i didn't want to get locked in, although that would be cool... i'd be afraid of dogs and

Chances are, it was a maunual(5spd). That buttom is there to release the key after you turn the car off. It keeps you from taking the key out while the car is running.

I thought it was just a security feature that keeps someone from turning the key and ripping it out? Or keep it from accidentally coming out.

interesting enough.....well thanx then, yeah the car was a manual. i wish it had the gauges still in so i could see the mileage cuz i was asking the guy about the tranny just pretending to myself that i'm considering an auto--->5 spd swap. front end had no damage done aside from bumpers broken a little, all rear and side damage.

i believe my 93 auto had that little button as well. I don't think anyone would go through all that trouble to convert from manual to auto.

I realize it when I drive an automatic. My ex-gf had an auto Altima, and everytime I'd go to get out of the car I'd press the button that wasn't there.

My family has had an 88 Maxima, 91 Stanza, 95 200sx, 97 and 99 Maximas. All 5-speeds, all had "the button".

he was talkin about his auto that had it, and we said that mostly 5 speeds have them, and he doesnt believe that someone would go through the trouble of swapping the 5 speed to an auto in his car, since his car does have the button
