ECU reset procedure failure
ECU reset procedure failure
I used site instruction for resetting the ECU but didnt get it to work.
1. It was difficult to switch off and on the gas fully depressed 5 times in 5 seconds.
2. When I pressed the gas to 6500 rpm it hit the limiter after 10 seconds and the SES didnt flash.
3. Tried twice with no success
Am I doing something wrong?

Umm... I don't think your car is supposed to be started. Just set to the 'on' position on the ignition.

OMG! Man, please say you are kidding.. Check under you car to see if any spare tires/engine mounts/belts/engine/air box are lying under there..
Just have it on the "ON" position, one click before the car is fully started

Nothing Common about (Common Sense)
WoW, Some people should just never I mean never touch any part of there car!! Just bring it to a dealer or repair center and pay for all the work. I can't believe someone would Rev up there car to the Redline and hold it there for 10 secs. Why don't you do it for 20 secs and see how incredible your car runs after that. I'm sorry but I have to say people these days are just plain stupid. They have no idea and thats why our country is getting dumber and dumber. People don't even know any History or famous people from 10 yrs ago, it's so pathetic!!!!!!!
Sorry
Sorry but I just can't feel sorry for anyone who decides to sit in their car and rev it to redline for 10 seconds. please, it just doesn't make sense to me.

OMG........too funny dude..
Sorry, it took me more than 10 tries to do it......
but I never thought someone would actually start the car while reseting.
Read instructions and try again! You won't be sorry, the difference is unbelievable!
Hope the car is ok!

I tried the procedure again with just the ignition on this time but no success. I will keep trying
Just for 2k2+. It took me a couple of tries but it works. I didn't have the throttle lag problem before doing it, but it did make the throttle respond a lot quicker than before.
And AgisAbatzoglou, how can your car be running better after revving and holding for 10secs? How many times did u hit the rev limiter? My God. Thanx for the laugh.

suggestions.
. do NOT start the car (please tell us that was a joke)
. turn the key until the dash lights come on, then count to 3 (3 seconds)
. then put the gas pedal to the floor 5 times quickly
. after you lift the pedal the 5th time count to 7
. push the pedal in until the Service Engine light blinks (~10s)
. release pedal and count to 10
. push it in and count to 10
. release it and turn the key off
it took me 3 or 4 tries and I finally figured out I wasn't waiting 3 seconds after turning the key on (not the engine!

I was waiting to see how would ask that 1st. Didn't think it'd be sooner.
Dude the thread you got this from says more than once that this is for '02+ only.
It's really seems like you are joking about this, and I hope so for your sake. If so good one you had'em going, if not DOH...

It took me many tries to even get the SES to blink........
but it really kills the lag/hesitation problems.....the car response much quicker.
Peace

holy crap! it works...well I think? before i would hit it and it would respond 1 second later...now it is minimized
will this really help my gas mileage? because I get 16 local and 20/21 highway and that is when I am going 70-75 and I don't have a heavy foot (sometimes)
