keep throwing belts--Help fast!!!!

I'm leaving on a 24 hour drive to texas from indianan and keep having belts jumping then shreading. I have 35 inch belt with the 3.33 pulley and my tensioner is maxed out, I need a shorter belt so is a 34 inch belt a good bet?? please respond asap, need to fix it tonight. like in 2 hours.

Do you have the V1 or the V2 kit. Belt sizes are different for the two.

If I were you, I'd pull the blower belt up out of the way and install the oem belt running just the AC compressor and alternator. You won't be boosted but at least that way you don't risk shredding another belt on your trip. You can leave everything else as is.

Stephenmax... Is that all there is to it to bypass boost? I was wondering the same thing for road trips.

crewchief...I don't think you should be maxing out your tensioner.

Yes. The blower won't be turning and the engine will now be sucking air through the blower, so volumetric efficiency will be down a bit compared to a NA engine, but it will have only a very small effect when cruising. I suppose you might suck a little oil past the blower seals, so if that bothers you, you can disconnect the oil feed line to the blower and plug the line. Don't forget to reconnect it when you put the blower belt back on, though!

I second that....I think you have a get a shorter belt if you have a V2 kit because the stillen tensioner pulley is smaller than the stock tensioner pulley.

crewchief264 : I think you have belt alignment problem. Hope this thread will help you fixing it when you come back from your trip. let us know if you have any question.
