Question for those who opened up their gauges

I haven't see how the innards of the guages look like, but was wondering. Can you tear it down to the point that we replace the bulbs in there with an EL strip?

EL strips are cheap and would put out even light. But again i'm not sure how the innards look like, enough to figure out if it'll fit/work.

Look at this http://www.fourthrock.com/maxima/gau...erringinstall/ and note picture DSC00047.JPG. Notice the light bulbs.
