Anyone's maxima choking during acceleration

When I use my 1993 SE, it like shakes from a stop. This is in first gear and later it gets better. People from outside can hear it like it is choking like coughing. Also the car died on me. You can hear it outside from the muffler and also from inside. Also people around my area, also seem to have this problem. I can hear it from their mufflers like choking. Doers anyone know what is wrong? Also, how do you clean the filter in the filter vent on the fronbt right side of the car. The vent that is facing the winshield and is right above the right most air vent.

Do you live in the mountains where air is thin? Or maybe it has something to do with your auto tranny (if you have an auto) because my car had the same problem too...

do the small things first. Check filters fuel, air, check your air mass flow sensor, check the wire harness on the MAF if it has some shorts in it the sensor will kill the engine. what gas are u using? maybe u may have gotten a bad batch? do all the simple stuff first!! just my thoughts try also a injector cleaner.

I would check the Mass airflow sensor.
