Having custom alloy wheels made ...

Anyone know where I can get this done? I want to get a GD going for a set of custom wheels, but I need to find a manufacturer who will do it and quote me a price before I can start guaging interest.

Is anyone familiar with who can make custom Alloy (not steel) wheels made? Attention to wheel weight would also be preferred but not necessary. As long as they won't weigh as much as Momo Arrow's, I think they'd be okay ...

Any/all suggestions welcome. PM, Email, post, however you want.

I "better have a good reason for this"? I'm not sure whether to take offense to that or not.

Anyway, I sure do have a good reason. I have a rim set in mind that would interest MANY maxima owners out there, I just need to get them made and they will come.

Got a web address for kinesis?

EDIT: Nevermind ... I found the address with a little help from Google.

I can't guarantee dirt cheap, but I can guarantee that I won't even have them made if they are too expensive. If I do offer them, they will be "worth it" to most people, but that's all I can promise.

Custom = $$$$

No manufacture is going to custom make a few sets of wheels. ie style. They have to retool all the machines, plus R&D cost, testing...etc. There are manufactures willing to make custom sizes. Any manufacture that sells 3 piece wheels can do that. ie. HRE.

What's wrong with off the shelf wheels?? Need some deep lip to fit a wide body maxima??

naah, i wasnt being offensive. its just "custom" is $$$. as someone in an above post said, if its just an offset or lip size, its not a big deal (i think 2 and 3 piece wheels can be done to your specs with no problem). if its the design u thinking about, then it definately cant be done "affordably".

Well, I'll just say it then: I'm looking to get the 97=99 SE wheels made in an 18 x 8 size. I figured this would be a bit easier than totally "custom" as it should only require a 3D "scan" of the original wheel to be altered to get it to 18 x 8. I think these wheels would sell well to 4th Gen owners if priced right.

At this point, I'm petitioning replica wheel manufacturers wuch as Prime Wheels. Any assistance from anyone would be appreciated.

Be prepared to pay many thousands of $ more than most other 18" rims. If you also want it light, you will have to pay more. Look at what what those two wheel makers charge for their off the shelf wheels.

Man, everyone chimes in to hate, huh?

God forbid someone wants to bring a new product to the Maxima community and it's not YOUR idea.

You can all enjoy your little Giovanna rims and 2002 taillights all you want. If it wasn't for people innovating and bringing new products up we wouldn't have red/clear tails, subframe connectors and MEVI's available to 4th gen owners. Not to mention carbon fiber hoods and unique body kits available for all gens.

S3, what makes you think I'm a noob? Just because I don't know where to get custom wheels made? I've done more for the Maxima community than many on this board and CERTAINLY more than you have - I know that for sure.

Sometimes I hate this pseudo Civic board ... LOTS of intelligent people, but all the jerks come out of the woodwork to ruin the experience for some.

I'm with you Jeff. I wasn't going to make them just for me, I was hoping to maybe get a GD going for them if I could get enough interest at a decent price. Personally I think an 18" replica of the 97-99 SE rim would look REALLY good on a 4th gen.

However, it's looking as impossible as I thought it was going to be, but I figured if I didn't at least try I wouldn't be satisfied.

No, not everyone chimes in to hate, just when stupid ideas like this come along....well

God forbid someone wants to bring a new product to the Maxima community and it's not YOUR idea.

Last time I check, a RIM is not a new idea

When was the last time you innovated and mass produced a marketable product?

You have no idea who I am, I'll leave it at that.

There are lots of intelligent people on the board, however tons of..not so intelligent ones too.

Now the real reason your custom rim idea won't work is because are you willing to fork over $10k-$20k for R&D just to make the 1st set? The first casting is going to cost quite a bit of $ and you want to add lightweight and make it alloy?

Or would you prefer rims that are ghetto made for about $2000 per set, that bend and crack.

Before you lead a herd of people into a GD, look into the responsibilities of what will happen when all your custom rims break/cause accidents and even death.

Rim makers like Volk,Momo,HRE do not invest millions into their business for nothing.

Not only do I not know who you are, I don't give a rat's a$$.

Maybe instead of a smarta$$ response to a simple question, you could have outlined all the potential speed bumps (or stop signs) on the road to doing what I wanted to get done.

And aside from your obvious lurking intelligence and "who you are", you can still screw off for being an a$$hole initially as well as your ASSumptions that I am both a noob and stupid.

Work Wheels

I've been waiting on custom made 3 piece wheels directly from Work Japan for 3 weeks. Custom made meaning that it will have enough backspace to clear my big brakes without spacer.
