Cleaned Throttle body now get SEL
Cleaned Throttle body now get SEL
about 10 miles after driving a car SEL light came on. I tried resetting it, but it comes back on after driving for a little and my idle is at like 800-850 RPMs now. Code comes up as 0507, which is undefined (I double checked it). Car drives fine and everything. Anyone knows what it could be before I take it to the dealer on Wednesday?
Thanks
Thanks

If not mistaken we cant ajust the Idle, but since your car was ok before, maybe you could disconnect the battery for the night, the next morning if it's still there then go to your dealer and dont say a word about the cleaning. Did you spray before or after the maf ?
Good luck

dude thats really wierd i have the same problem and i cleaned my throttle body a few months ago. my SES light came on a month after or so. i thought it was the intake set up. i did the 2k2 ECU reset and the car is fine. try this http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm do all of them and ur light should turn off. if it comes back on then u gots a problem.
if u sprayed the cleaner into the MAF then buy a new one. chances r its ****ed. to clean the TB u have to spray the cleaner directly into the TB reconnect the intake tubes and start the car. repeat this until the bottle is empty.
let me know what the dealership says i want to know the fix to the P0507 code mine threw it a few times. hope this helps!

i took out the intake and sprayed directly on a throttle plate. engine was off. then i opened the plate and sprayed all around it until it looked clean. i tried the reset procedures 3 times and light still comes back. Thanks guys, I will just take it to the dealer on Wednesday.
I had the same problem, I reset the light twice, took it to the dealer once but the light kept coming back. Then I did all the procedures on the http://www.technosquareinc.com web site and that finally got rid of it. I think the most important one is the Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning) step. Did you happen to move the butterfly while cleaning the throttle body? I think this might be the cause if so.
What did dealer say/do? I will try it again tonite. Thanks!

First they told me to check for any air leak between the MAF and throttle body. They reset the light, which came back on the next day. I noticed that the idle was higher than normal from 800- 1000 RPM's, so I ran the steps on the Idle air learning. It's been a week and the light is off and if the car sits for a minute or so the idle is about 650. Hopefully this will work for you

That is where the problem lies. Unlike the earlier generations, the 2K2 up uses drive by wires to control the TB. When you open up the plate like that, I guess the reading of the TPS is off. I remembered someone here did that but I forgot how to reset the ECU. Try to do a search.
Please read all instructions and be familiar with them before any attempts.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
ECU Resetting Procedures
Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning
Operation Procedure
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
Operation Procedures
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.
Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.
Operation Procedures
1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.

for some reason reset ECU and Idle air procedures don't work for me anymore. I must've tried it 30 times and SEL stays solid(wouldn't go into diag mode). I don't think I can't get the timing right because it did work for me like 5 times before. Weird.
I had a hard time doing it also, but take your time doing it and use and analog clock. remember to press the pedal in fast but try using up almost the five second. When I did it I was doing it too fast (or so I think ) and it wouldnot work.
