Clutch Upgrade
Clutch Upgrade
I have a 94 SE 5sp with a stage 2 clutch masters clutch. I was planning to upgrade to a stage 3 clutch in the near future. Can anyone tell me if this will cause any damage to my tranny. So far the stage 2 clutch has been holding me down, but my desire for stronger holding capacity has grown. Any helpful info with be greatly appreciated.
I have no major mods. K&N Air intake, NGK plugs and wires, Remus Exhaust, tokico shocks, eibach springs, brembo cross drilled rotors, stillen metal braide lines with metal matrix pads are the only mods. No major engine upgrades ( yet ). The clutch is not slipping, but at times i notice its harder to spin the tires shifting into second gear. Thats where the desire for more holding capacity comes from. As for the clutch master stage 2 clutch, it has 70% more holding capacity of the stock clutch and the stage 3 has 110% holding capicty over the stock clutch.
the clutch itself will probably not cause any damage, however the way you are driving will.
If you want to be able to chirp second, dont replace a perfectly good clutch, spend the money doing other things, then replace the clutch when it becomes a problem.

Thanks for the advice. I think im just gonna stick to the stage 2 clutch i have in there now. As for other upgraded, i feel im at a dead end when it comes to upgrades for my car. Other then the mods i listed in the previous thread, anyone have any other ideas for some mods. I know there's alot but my brain is not really functioning.
Underdrive Pulley, Y-Pipe, WSP CAI, maybe a test pipe, JWT ECU, B-pipe or cat back if you want, polyeurothane motor mounts, a fidanza when you do need to drop the tranny again.
yea your not even half way through all the mods and dont forget we need somone to test these headers they could be your next and best bang for the buck mod since they come with a ypipe

The money spent on the headers could go to a new set of wheels and or tires (or you could just give it to me).
Headers can be very effective on NA motors, however how effective is dependant on two things, 1. how well the aftermarket units are designed, and 2. how well the stock units are designed.
Personally I dont much of an improvement with the overall design on the stock VE headers. However I can get alot of power free'd up from say our 318ci Durango or the Mustang if I put a set of headers on it.
