I was wondering if the silencer that comes with some exhaust/muffler really work. I'm trying to find a exhaust that is not too noise at idle and crusing speed, and loud at WOT. thanks for the replies.

 

my silencer worked great, my car wasnt even loud, but then it flew out of my muffler while i was driving

yea silencer made a big difference on my old a'pexi N1 muffler, but it looks kinda ugly. i have magnaflow street series and they are very quiet, near stock. no silencer needed.

 

what is a silencer?

 

it's this round thingy you shove into the tip of a muffler to quiet it down a bit. also known as a baffle.

i have a silencer in mine and it does a good job keeping it quiet, but when i want to be loud i just take it off.

 

Is there a company that sells all sizes of these? My Magnaflow muffler is waayyy too loud but the tips are oval so I don't think a standard size would fit

 

i dont know if they do make oval shaped silencers but i can look. all the silencers i've seen are round. you can try getting a long resonator and have it installed. that should quiet it down too.

 

Does the silencer cut back on air flow?

 

i don't think it does. the air flow goes in one end and straight out the other.

 

do you sell silencers or something?

i need a new one.
