exedy clutch

will the exedy clutch tear up my tranny like the act stage 1 clutches notoriously do?

should i just get the OEM clutch from courtesy...or is the exedy clutch better in any way...i just don't want it to kill my tranny, but still be kinda sporty and grippy!!!

i know that...but if your tranny has high mileage shouldn't you be extra careful with it?

In either case....does anyone have the exedy clutch in their max? how good is it? does it last? is it grabby? more than OEM? but less than act?

but how much more friction is applied by the exedy over the OEM nissan clutch? will it last just as long?

I don't want it too grippy like the act...ie. 30-35% increase in friction over stock clutch!!!

I have an exedy clutch I think it was 32% more clamping force over stock compared to ACT 36 or 39%. I haven't had any trouble with mine and it works great. Cheaper then the ACT too

36% clamping force for Exedy
35% clamping force for ACT

Exedy makes the clutch that ACT uses...

And as stated before, the driver ruins the tranny, the clutch just helps. If your not boosting or running nitrous, DO NOT upgrade your clutch to either an exedy stage 1 or ACT, theres absolutely no need. Just replace it with an OEM (NOT key value, OEM!!) clutch and you'll be set to go....

Im running an Exedy stage 1 for obvious reasons....

39% ACT

I believe the Exedy product catalog states 37%, but really its not that big of a deal. The difference with the ACT HDMM's (stage 1) is they modify the pressure plate, which is why it will shift harder.

I have the Exedy Stage 1 (not the sub $200 ebay one -thats an OE Replacement). I hooked it up with a Fidanza flywheel, and it is a really nice combo, I highly recommend it. It has a much better feel than stock, but it isnt hard to drive at all. Once the clutch makes contact with flywheel it seems like the clutch just automatically engages, unlike the stock one where the you have to keep releasing the clutch pedal in order to get it to grip more. It makes driving the car much more fun, and a friend with a car just like mine, but with a stock clutch/flywheel absolutely loves mine, I'm pretty sure he's going to use the same setup I have.

If you dont want to pay for the stage one, you might just want to pick up a OE replacement Exedy clutch.

Also consider replacing the Rear oil seal on the engine.
