Problem with digital climate control

I took my dash apart few days ago to fix my dead interior light(s).

It turned out to be the turn signal stalk/headlamp switch. I fixed that, but since I had the dash apart, I decided to go hunt down switches that had blown illumination bulbs.

The digital climate control had all 6 bulbs blown. I removed them, and then put the climate control back in the car. It worked fine. I found ONE bulb lying around, so I took the climate control out again, inserted it so that the "Auto" button would at least illuminate... Everything was fine. I found another bulb, and I decided to take the climate control out again, and then after I did, I realized that the 2nd bulb was actually burned out.

I put the unit back in the car, and now...

The fan isn't blowing!

It only blows if I push the fan button until all four fan blades are lit (maximum air flow). If I hit "Auto" or manually set to fan setting of 1 through 3, I get no air.

Does anyone have any idea/clue on what happened? I have tried removing the control unit again and also jiggling the wiring harness, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Just a guess, cause I'm not familiar with the digital climate control, but there should be a speed control circuit (fan speed control) and you might have messed something up on that. If the circuit is damaged, you may have to replace the climate control unit. I've seen them on e-bay recently. But if it was working before you replaced the bulb, re-trace all your steps and check all connections.

I had a similar problem when I replaced my bulbs - in my case, the blower motor wouldn't work at all, although the fan speed light would indicate everything was working. I ended up pulling out the blower motor, spinning it a few times, running 12v thru it in both polarities and remounting motor. Has worked fine ever since
It's possible that one of the multi-connectors on the back of the climate control unit isn't located properly. Pull it apart & try again. Not sure if Nissan uses a stepping resistor to reduce fan speed - this could be source of problem.

Check all connections at the back of the heater controls if that don't work wack the blower a couple of times I did mines worked fine since 9 months or so ago.
Lastly check the heater fan resistor, it sits in the blower outlet to the heater box, unsure exactly where or what it looks like some are like a circuit board and other are like big heat sink. That part of them sit inside the ducting and they have wires/plug goin to them that go to the blower motor.

Hope this helps

I took the blower motor out, and there was alot of rust.

Anyway, with the motor disconnected, I tried turning on the climate control, and when I cycle through the fan settings, I hear a click when it is at setting four, but not when setting is at 1 through 3. Incidentally, my problem is that the blower is only operational at the 4th fan speed, anything else, it just won't turn.

I see only 1 electrical wiring harness that goes to the motor, and it is 2 wires. I checked for voltage, and it seem that when the car is on, I get power on one of the lines all the time! I thought that maybe there was a resistor that controls the motor (since I see only two wires), but I am now really confused...

I've tried to see where the "click" comes from when I hit the fan at 4th position, but I couldn't figure it out.

I really would like to fix this before winter sets in...

Thank you for any helps,
