honestly, if there is no pinging or knocking, just use what you always use.

91 is what the book says to use, so why waist more money if it won't help?

Well I advanced my timing from 15 to 20 degrees and I was told just to use 93 or higher octane. These are the words from some members and the techs at Jim Wolf.

My stock timing was getting pulled in the summer heat even on 93 octane. When you're in heat soak conditions you need all the octane you can get. I would run the maximum pump octane that you can get at all times, but would not use octane boosters on a daily basis or anything like that.

on my 93 VE, I am running 20* timing, and just installed a resistor for the knock sensor. I'm using Arco 93 octane and I'm not getting one single ping or knock and I drove the **** out of the car.

I was at a friends house, exact same setup, but he uses Chevron 93 octane, we could hit 17* but it would still ping.

I took mine up huge hills, lugged the crap out of it, etc. no pinging or knocking. Also our Durango pings when going up hills on Texaco, yet on Arco we can tow 3000lbs up that same hill and it still will not ping, using 87 octane from both companies.
