Please help with door locks

Guys,

I had some autobody work done on my front right door. In taking out the handle, I think they screwed something up. Sometimes the button will stick in between the open and closed positions and the door will not open. I'll click the remote close and it'll return to the closed position. Then I'll click the remote open and again it'll be stuck half way.

I can reproduce this behavior. When the door is closed and locked, all I have to do is lift the handle. Then when I click the remote open, it gets stuck. To release the lock, I've found that if I lift the handle and click the remote open/close it eventually releases. I'm sure this is a mechanical problem and not frictional.

I really don't want incompetent people screwing with my car anymore. Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Sounds like they took it out to do the body work the messed it up somehow. I you know how take it out and take a look, if not take it back to the body shop and have them fix it.

I'd rather do it myself than have someone else touch it. I know how to take the inside panel off, but that really doesn't give me enough of a look to see what's going wrong.

I would try and get a hold of a factory service manual. It should have a "Body" section which shouldl describe removal and reinstallation of the handle assembly. Do a search and see if anyone here has a ESM for the car. Sounds like something isn't aligned quite right.
