putt, putt, putt.....

Hey, I got your attention, my question for you mechanically inclined. Sometimes when I start my car, it will catch but kind of sputter putt, putt like it wants to stall and then will go up to a normal idle. Any ideas what that may be? And question #2, sometimes when my headlights are off, especially after driving at night or just having them on, I'll get out of the car and turn off lights and then my roommate comes home and parks next to me and tells me my left headlight is on ONLY! I go into the car and I see the blue hi-beam light on and sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times switching the lights off and on to get that light to stay off. At work today someone came and told me that my headlight was on and I went outside and sure enough it was. I again got in the car and flicked the switch a few times and after the switch being off, the light would come on in the dash, so I just opened the hood and pulled the plug on the headlight while I was at work just in case it decided to turn itself back on again I wouldn't come out to a dead battery. Is this just a headlight switch I need?
Or is my car " CHRISTINE " and will start going out and killing people while I'm not in it? ( for those that don't know ) Stephen King movie.
Sorry for the length
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

Check ALL your ground wires. Clean them up and make sure all are connected.

I would check for adequate fuel pressure and no leak back on the fuel pump for the starting issue.
And I'd check the relays on the HL issue in addition to the hi lo switch
