Keep the BOSE?
Keep the BOSE?
I just need some people's opinion...
1) I've replaced the stock head unit with a Sony one, and my rear bose speakers with pioneers... however someone just gave me thier old amp (see sig) a kenwood 200w Max stereo amp... should I keep my bose amps in the back and sell the amp? or should i sell the bose amps (both of the rear ones) and just use the kenwood amp? - which will sound better?
And now for a real question...
2) my pioneer speakers say 200w max... how much power can my bose amp produce (max)? BTW my head unit can produce 50w max per chanel.
thanks in advance
.
BTW i also posted this in the audio secion.

The bose head unit gave out a much lower rms wattage than a sony head unit does, therefor, with a sony head unit, you will not get any sound or blow a fuse in the bose amps. Also the bose amps will not provide enough power to any aftermarket speaker, making them redundant.
I recommend buying the wiring harness from Crutchfield for a third gen Max, and bypassing the factory amps by cutting the wires from the harness in the dash, and the one harness attached to the amps.
I used this to hook up my pioneer head, pioneer 6x9's and 4x6's. it plays nice and loud with no interference.
Im not sure what the bose puts out, but i know it is not enough. if you have pioneer 6x9's, i would recommened just using the head unit instead of the amp.

should I replace the bose amps with a kenwood amp (200w max per channel)??? will the audio sound any better/worse?
thanks again...
Soon you will fry your bose amps.
If you are going to use aftermarket speakers and HU, it's better to just circumvent all of the bose. I would recommend you do it right and pull your front bose speakers, buy pods from James92SE and install some 6.5" in the doors. Bypass the rear bose amps and run all of your speakers off of either your HU or amp.
I have my system set up with my front and subs working off of my amp, but it is a 4 channel. I will later get some 6x9s and run them off of the rear channels from the HU.
I don't know what Sony HU you have, but it would probably sound decent if you just run all four speakers from it. It should sound much better than the bose.
Later, you could run a sub (or a pair of them) off of your new amp. If all of your bose stuff is OK, you could probably sell it for enough to buy a decent sub.
If you look at my cardomain (www below) I have some pics of my system. It is nothing spectacular, but it sounds decent for scrounging up stuff here and there.
Just my $.02
