Rear Door Swap - 2 Questions

Swaping both rear doors from an SE to my GXE...

1) I peeled off some of that foam stuff around the hinges (where the 2 bolts are located)... it's that adhesive type material... do I need to replace it? is it necessary? what are potential problems if not fixed (ie rust)?

2) Can I pull the silver trim off of my GXE door and put it onto the SE doors? If so how do I do it? are they glued on? etc.

Thanks in advance.

I always wondered why the GXE got the chrome trim and grille and the SE got plain body colored trim and grill. Chrome is the more fancy/outstanding color, why wouldn't the fully featured more expensive SE model have it?

You have it backwards. The GXE was potentially (with add ons) the more full featured car and it was more for luxury than the SE...The auto climate control, digital dash, HUD, and sonar suspension was not available on the SE I dont believe.

The se was more sport...hence the body colored grill and black moldings.

Chrome is more of a luxury american thing.
and the monotone / blacked out trim is more european.
