tire size and lowering = rubbing?

Hello all,

Just got my 95 Max back from the shop. She's lowered on Eibach Springs/KYB AGX's. I also have some 17 x 7 rims with 225/50 zr17 tires. My installer says the
tires are too big for my year with Eibachs on. He says the tire will rub. Is he full of it or do I have to go with 215/50's. Your thoughts...

Thanks,
Nautilus

Did he suggest the 215/50/17? If so he's full of s***. By dropping from a 225/50 to a 215/50 you'll only lose a tenth of an inch. Sounds to me like he just wants to sell you a set of tires.

What size tire would you recommend

Thanks for the advice. Given the eibachs and rims (17 x 7), what size tires would you recommend on a 95 maxima?

depends on how you want the car to sit. If you want to prevent or eliminate rubbing, probably a 215/45/17. That will take about an inch off of the overall tire diameter of a 215/50 w/out widening the tire. Maybe even a 205/45 which will lose about an inch and a half. You'll just have to look at the car and make a judgement call.
