Just got my CF Hood and had some questions?

Hey Everyone!!1

I just got my CF hood in the mail and was going to install it but I ran into some problems:

1. The bolts that I took off of my stock hood don't fit into the Fiber Images hood and I'm not sure what size the bolts are. I called http://www.mmrusa.com/ which is a company that sells Fiber Images CF hood and they said that I should be able to use the stock hardware.

2. Also I was wondering what type of hood pins you guys used for your CF hood. I read a lot of posts and there was some discussion about the hood pins that lock with a key. Personally that is what I am considering but wanted to get some input first.

3. Thirdly, the reason that I got a CF hood is because I got in a little fender bender and my hood was damaged. I had taped a SUV and it had a tire on the back of there trunk so the tire had some fun with my hood. I think that it pushed my radiator support back about 1/2 an inch. When I lined up my CF hood the U did not directly fall onto the hood clamp. Should I just tie some rope to my radiator and pull it out 1/2 an inch or should I play it save and take it to a shop (they want $150) to do it, or should I just install the hood and not worry about the U because the hood pins should hold the hood down anyways.

Thanks guys,

and thanks to latinmaxima for selling me his hood

1. find out what fits...might need to tap (i don't mean hitting it) it to get the right thread..but don't force anything in.

2. not sure on that.

3. your call..but IMO i wouldn't leave the damage like that. the pins should supplement the stock lock/latch...but not replace it.

1) It's supposed to come with it's own hardware...the stock stuff doesnt fit. It should come with some allen head bolts. If it's really a FI hood then this company that resells them is either misinformed or lying, it should come with it's own hardware

2) I'm using the flush mount ones that use the key. PepBoys sells them, but be warned they're a PITA to install

3) Shell out the $150 and let the shop do it right

You can look on my cardomain site and see mine and how I have it done

Thanks guys for replying,

James92SE I was looking at your postings all day today before I posted mine and I really like your car.....I was wondering if you could give me the dimentions of the screws that mount on to the bracket so that I can get them from Pepboys and also what does PITA stand for. Thanks again

Get a pull hammer and pull it out, thats what i did with my girlfriends corolla. Some backwoods redneck pulled out infront of me with his F150 and did about the same damage that you have. If you dont have one, im sure you can rent it.

could anyone tell me what the size of the bolts are that are supposed to go into the fiber images hood. I went and bought 12mm bolts and they go in about half way and then stop and I'm affraid that if put it in more it might mess up the threading. But then again it could be the right size. The 10mm is too small. It could be 11mm but I couldn't find 11mm bolts. Is there anyone that has a Fiber Images hood that knows the bolt size? Thanks
