Here's how I launch with my stock 15" steelies @ 22psi:

1-1st gear with clutch down to the point before the car starts to move

2-Keep reving between 1k-1.5k. Keep tapping the gas pedal lightly

3-on third yellow light, simultaneously dump clutch half way and give 3/4 throttle

4-once you stop spinning or once you feel it catch, release cltuch and floor it

This got me a best of 2.282 60 foot time with my intake/ypipe. It just takes practice.

I still haven't found my best launch but today I got to play on an intertial type dyno and they let me try 10+ launches in 5min. It may be slightly off a real dragstip but It's a hella way to practice and a lot easier than public streets.

For the longest time I did a 2K rpm clutch dump then tried to battle the wheel hop and tire spin until I hooked up. I could always pull 2.22-2.30 that is nothing to brag about.

last time at the track I got almost 30 runs in and finally found a method that works for me. It's a low rpm launch, 1k rpms at the most. I kinda just scoot slowly off the line then lay into the throttle. It's just like comming off the line when driving normal for the first few feet then gettin on it. I can pull 2.1x all day with this method and have pulled as low as 2.14.

Sup Brian. Yeah, when they strapped up my baby, and the guy hit it, my heart just about skipped a beat. The whole front end shimmied to the right side (as it always does when hitting it hard from a stop) and I coulda sworn the car was coming off the rollers. It was cool though, and the mustang dyno proved to be fairly accurate with whp and 1/4 times. Im still miffed about the no torque reading, but for $20, you can't go wrong. Glad to see ya there.

O.k. I thought I was just crazy, because that's the exact technique that i get the best results from too. I launch right at 1k for about 5 feet then hammer it down. I pulled my personal best of 2.20 with this and could do alot better if i wasnt on these all season junkyard tires

I rev up to 4000rpms and slip the clutch a little. This nets me low 2.20s and got me a PB of 2.18 today. I tried the 1500rpm "walk out" and all it got me was 2.25 60 foots and a bog thru 1st. My car must be a pig because it needs a hard launch to run it's best.

BTW, this is on all-season Sumitiomo HTR200 215/60R15.

Oddly enough ive gotten my best 60' on undersized 205-55/16s that i bought the car with. It was a 2.11, launched at about 2800rpms, slip the clutch and floor it.

Since ive put my my 225-55/16 Yoko AVS ES100, i cant seem to break hiiigh 2.2-2.3 60ft using every technique possible...

im launching around 2500 .. i do the same routine or try to. at first yellow stage light, i get everything like i like it. i dont care if it takes a few more seconds ...ha ha! im staging !

then once i get my feet right where it feels good, i ease up and then ease the rpms up to 2500 and stick it there. when its time to go .. i let it go depending on wheel spin, i will make adjustments

i would imagine with so many different factors from car to car, you just have to keep testing it out to see where the limit is.
