1/8th mile time -> 1/4 mile estimation?

Hey guys, I just ran at the local 1/8th mile track. I had some very good times. I wanted to pick your brain about my 1/4 mile estimation.

On another forum, they mentioned multiplying my 1/8th mile time by 1.55 to get an estimated 1/4 mile. They also mentioned the NHRA uses 1.56 to get an estimate for 1/4 mile (from an eighth).

Here is my method: since I have a 2k2 Maxima SE Manual, I took the 8 slips from other Maxima bretheren (2k2 and 2k3 SE Manual) in the moderated 1/4 mile slips section. I weeded out the two or three mentioning spraying nitrous. From there, I came up with 8 good, clean looking slips. Upon averaging their (1/4mile)/(1/8mile) ratios, I came up with a factor of 1.5314.

Do you think this is a realistic conversion factor? If so, my 9.037s @ 79.66mph would convert to a 13.84s - 1/4 mile.

Thanks for your input!!!

Elon

you could go to steele?

ive always heard 1.55, but either way there is only less than a .2sec differance between 1.55 and 1.53

damn quick though, so far at bowling green my brothers stock atuo 98 T/A ls1 has only managed a 13.7

The difference in 1.55 and 1.53 on my 9.037s 1/8th is the difference between a 14.007s and a 13.827s 1/4 mile. See what I am getting at? To get into the 13's with one simple power adder (my Cattman Y-Pipe) would be awesome!!!

I am planning on going to Steele in the next two months. If we do wind up having this meet in Nashville sometime in December, we all might have to go to the track.

with the times you had in the 1/8th i'd say you'd be good for a flat 14 second 1/4 or so, provided your Max keeps the top end running strong. Excellent 1/8 times/mph by the way

I actually did the same thing for myself. I went and took about 20 4th gens(NA with similar mods) and averaged them out to a 1.541 multiplication factor.
