reaction time question

I have a question on how the reaction time works. when I went to the drag strip the announcer was saying your best reaction time would be .400 because the light was a four stage. I had a reaction of .415 on one run and I red lighted what's the deal?

.400 is perfect on a pro tree which is when all 3 yellow lights flash at the same time. .500 is perfect on a sportsman tree which is when the 3 yellows flash in sequence (one half second apart). if you redlighted with a .415 you were on a sportsman tree. it sounds to me like the announcer misspoke.
