If they're just for racing then you want lightweight and short. Get light 15" wheels or use your stock ones and then stick some kind of really short tire on it like 50 series (215/50 maybe?). Your speedometer will be off and it will look wierd, but you'll have better gearing this way.

Sorry, no idea about sticky treads! Depends on your budget too though.

Or Bridgestone Potenza S-03 could be good

K/D's are way too heavy and pricey for the 1/4. Any tall narrow cheap rubber should work.

stock steelie rims with cheap rubber. if your getting really serious...i guess it could be time for more expensive tires, maybe slicks, but thats doubtful

I don't get it... why is everyone suggesting cheap, narrow tires when he wants good 1/4 mile performance? For this application, wouldn't it be better to use some wide and sticky rubber up front, and some hard, skinny, cheap rubber in the rear?

From what I've seen at the Tire Rack and some other forums, that BFG KD is supposed to be the closest you can get to a race tire.

i didnt say skinny, i just said cheap. if they take constant track abuse... its better that way IMO. also you're hard pressed to find big wide light rims for those big wide sticky tires. and if you do, he is going to end up paying a lot of money
