Well, the info for the recall mentioned at http://www.cars.com/news/stories/103...y&aff=national and http://personal.news.yahoo.com/us/ne...cat=1519&ncid= is finally up now at NHTSA's site.

See http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...intVersion=YES for all the details. Too bad I can't search to find the prior posts on this recall.

This is really big news, first I've heard of it. I'm surprised that it is not yet listed on the Nissan Tech-Info site here:

http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissa...C.asp?mscssid=

Has anyone had a problem with their crank position sensors?

It should be located on a sticker on the lower part of the B-pillar inside the driver's door jamb. It will read as a month and year. Mine is 11/01.

Great. Just got rid of my '02 SE-R because of that 'little' problem. Now my pride and joy '02 Max sounds like it's going to need to go to my local butcher shop so one of their 'factory trained' technicians can root around with a breaker bar in the engine bay.

I'd appreciate any formum advice on good Nissan factory work in the SoCal area, preferably in San Diego, Indio/Palm Desert, or Yuma AZ area.

Charliekilo3, my sticker on the driver's side does not clearly indicate the build date for my '02. Does your sticker have the bar code too? There are some numbers to the lower right of the bar code. Is the BD in that bunch of numbers?

Thanks again for the info.

No, the build date is at the top of my sticker. The sticker is called the FMVSS certification label. Here is the format of mine
Date
GVWR
GAWR
"This motor vehicle conforms to FMVS bumper and theft prevention standards in effct on the date of maunfacture shown above."
VIN
Passenger car
Barcode
Small VIN
If you cannot read your date, it may have been rubbed off or something. These stickers should be in all motor vehicles sold in the US as far as I know. I have one in my 95 KingCab that is pretty close to the same format as my 02 Max.

no, check the dates of production: your 2k couldnt have been produced after 2001.... that just wouldnt work out.

How long a procedure is this? Also, think I should get the TSB for lack of power done? Along with the one for startup rattle?? pain in my butt

I have a friend with a 2002 and they went to Nissan today, they said the campaign wasn't started yet. They wouldn't help her out!
