headlight theft - shielding horn wires?
I had my lights stolen. Horn wires cut. Anyone try to use some type of shielding to protect these wires? I want to slow them down make it harder to cut the wire then just simply sticking cutter through grill and clipping.
So sorry to hear about the theft of your lights. Your posting earlier re the TSB was helpful to me. Ironically, my lights were stolen a few months ago. I had them replaced with 2001 halogens, so the temptation for future thefts is way reduced . . .

while I was at the bimmer dealer, servicing my dad car.anyways I saw a 02 max with 00 or 01 max light in there. the clever things this guy did was used a oem nissan max nose mask to cover the damage hood and fender and it also hide the gap very whell . you know what I am talking about, now that is cost saving from body work and it look good.
Gs- I was thinking the same thing....
I am still waiting to get my max back from the shop....
Anyhow, I was thinkign of a few things..
1. Put razor wire in behind the grill. Thsi way if a hand goes in, it will be cut. My mechanic said no, cause if a theif does get cut, they will most likely take it out on your car... and damage everything in sight.
2. I was thinking of taking likea screen mesh and putting it on the inside of the grill, so they cannot get through. I am planning on investigating this route.
Also other thoughts:
A) re route the horn wires totally, and have then in a place where they cannot be cut.
B) Put in an aftermarket horn into the engine bay, so they cannot cut it.
I will be looking at all of the above when I finally get my car back.

i think the mesh would help block access to horn wires and hood latch.
also i may try to slide some metal shielding onto the wire itself. looks like i will have to head to home depot
