Went to dealer for tranny today

So what do you think will happen?
I brought my 2K SE 5spd to the dealer this morning. I was having a hard time getting into second gear sometimes; a couple times i couldn't get into second at all.
For some reason the local dealer thinks that "warranty" is a special occasion and that most any failure is a charge.

Dealer just called. "We can't find a problem. It seems to shift just fine. If it gives you a problem getting into 2nd, try going to 3rd first"
At least there was no charge. Now, where do I go to find redline oil?

If you know how to reproduce it, call them back and ask to ride with the service guy. HAve him in the car when it happens, and then get out and make him drive it.
It sounds like you 2nd gear synchros or shift *****/yokes, I forget what they are called, could be abused or even worn.
The redline oil will help, but it will only mask the problem, bring it back in and have them fix it.
Or find another dealer and bring it there.
Once out of warranty you will just end up paying for it...so bust their ***** to get it done now before you expire. A rebuilt tranny runs 1500 on up, depending what needs to be replaced.

Problem is I can't predict when it will happen. I know it was worse when it was cold and the car sat outside all day. Most of the time it's fine. Maybe my standards are too high? But why only that one gear? shifting into 3rd, 4th or 5th is always ok.
Not sure why only one gear, that is for the service people to find out.
If it happens when it is cold, leave the car there for an overnight drop off. then on the service info ask them not to pull the car into the garage, but to test drive it immedietly, maybe then they can reproduce.
If you do a lot of stret rcing or 1/4 milin' your 2nd gear will take a beating, casue on tehse cars, it's nothgin for the tires to break loose, essentially beating on the tranny.
Don't give up.
Try another dealer, or try to make friends with a mechanic. I tip them when I need major work done, and they remember me when I come back.
At one dealer I swore a mechanic stole my arnette sunglasses out fo my car, the dealer reimbursed me for the sunglasses, and every time I go back there I am greeted with a last name hello.
