Today I was driving around for a good amount of time, and I noticed that whenever I go fast, my car seems to get slower (After a good amount of going fast). And when I say it goes slower, I mean it doesn't accelerate as fast as it does other times. And for some info, its a '95 GLE with 125,000 miles . I just had the oil changed today, so that can't be the problem. I can't think of any reason why it would be doing this. I hope somebody can help me...

Have you had the "60K" tune-up or in your case "120K" done..

In that it includes:
Radiator drain and fill.
Fuel Filter change
Oil Filter Change
Oil and tranny fluid change
Spark plug change
Try some injector cleaner or have the injectors cleaned.
If you use sh**ty fuel, shame on yourself.. if you only use premium. Do the tune-up and it should feel better.
Most common running bad problems occur from not frequent enough tune-ups. If your engine makes any "funny" noises under idleing or driving around, get it inspected.
When I did my 60K tune-up, it cost me around $70

"Heat Soak" when you get on the car hard, the car runs hotter... hot = bad performance.

PiotrC70 gave a good list of maintenance items, but it should have included replacement of the air filter.

I suggest you have your Catalytic Converter and Oxygen Sensors checked.

Two tests

The principal symptoms of a bat Cat are increased fuel consumption and reduced engine power (especially at high rpm).

There are two tests which may indicate an obstruction in the exhaust system (in the Cat or elsewhere).

#1) Intake manifold vacuum test. Blip the throttle. The vacuum reading should drop to zero and quickly return to normal. If it drops slowly and returns slowly, that indicates an obstruction.

#2) Back pressure test. Drill a hole in the exhaust pipe just upstream of the Cat. Screw in a metal fitting and attach a pressure gauge. At 2K rpm the reading should be 1 psi or less. After the test, close the hole with a sheet metal screw or a spot of weld.

Good to know as my car has 100K and I plan on keping it for at least 2-3 more years. Bought her new in 95 and I like no car payments! Thanks for your answer Dan!

Here is another example of how it goes slow...

One night me and my friend, who has a 99' Ford Ranger with the 4.0 engine, raced a couple times. First, we pulled up at a stop light, and when it turned green i stepped on it and ,sadly, i didn't beat him by much. But the second time i raced him I did better.

See, the other night when i said i was driving around for a while, there was some civic si that i was harrassing, and then i raced an old grand am. So then shortly after all this, me and my friend (who has a 98' v6 firebird) raced and he beat me, which shouldn't have happened. When i took off from the light, it didn't feel like my max was going as fast as it should have. But maybe it had something to do with the wheelspin, i'm not really sure.
