summary of my first install: Pioneer Premier headunit w/ Bose

well, the first night I installed the headunit... man it was incredibly hard for me to remove the Dash. I put a scratch on one of my dash peices

Since I am getting an in-dash screen, I left the Bose headunit in and installed the player underneath it. I bought it from Don (pearl96max)... Pioneer Premier DEH-P550MP.

I was trying to remove the Bose headunit to see if I can open it up and clean it out... but one of the screws stripped on it I will just drill it out, but the headunit is in good shape at least.

I soldered the connections and then heatshrink wrapped them. I avoided the Bose adapter and spliced teh speaker wires into RCA connectors and plugged them into the headunit's preamps.

Unfortunately, I am getting a *POP* sound whenever I turn off/on my headunit, change radio stations, change EQ settings, or turn the volume up from 0 or down to 0. I thought it was a ground problem, but I double checked my ground spots with a voltmeter and concluded that wasn't it. I don't know what else... I'm going to double check my signal wires.

Other than that, the headunit plays the music very well and I love it! I really have to give mad props to Don who gave me a TON of help and great deal on the deck. Check out some pics:

before I cleaned it out and ziptied everything together:

oh yeah, next time I remove this stuff (end of december when I get my screen), I'm gonna buy some plastic polish get rid of all the microscratches I found on the center console!
