My friend has all type r speakers in his car, and he's the manager of a stereo store. He has also won shows for sq with the car. I have type r subs, and so do a bunch of people I know. Great bang for the buck IMO.

I bought 2 pairof the components. Not in yet, however I have heard them in a GS300 and they sounded great. If you look on ebay you can get a great deal. I bought mine for $120 a pair. None of my local shops could even come close. Whatever you DO NOT USE CMT trading. They tried to screw me!!! I used CBR stereo. Dennis is really cool. They are in Cali.

yeah the type R is really great bang for the buck. I did a show car in 2002 with type R's. It was yummy.

They are power hungry though.

and be sure you dont over pay. here is better for 180$ +

Im planning to get 6.5 componets in the front, 6.5 3ways in the back and a 12" sub. I was thinking about going all Infinity. How are the Type Rs compared to Infinity?

depends which infinity's youre talking about,
type r > infinity reference
type r <= infinity perfect

both are about as power hungry.

for the 12" sub you might also consider the eD K-series sub, which is the best bang for the buck 12 on the market right now. www.edesignaudio.com
I have a 12" infinity kappa right now and i'll be replacing it with an e12k in the very near future cos its just a much better sub.

the e12k is very comparable to the type r 12, except the K is slightly cheaper and looks nicer (flat cone)

went in for a listen at Mobile 1 today, they sound pretty darn good. good highs, nice mids, and decent bass output.
