Auto tranny croaked on me. Auto trannies Suck! time for a 5spd swap

I got two maximas for those that dont know. Okay who cares. I have an auto w/140K. Yesterday my dad was going to use it. All of a sudden the car gets stuck going upwards the hill and starts rolling down. I get a call from my brother the tranny is broken. Sounds like a broken 5Spd. I am not a auto tranny expert. I tell him dump two quarts of oil it may need some oil. Okay I arrive dump the oil in there it still wont do nothing. Place it in gear and the car just rolled backwards. I went from R to N and it made a trrrrrrr noise sounded like some **** broke in there. Moral of the story, I had a 50shot of NOS I was going to use. Brand new kit bottle is full. thank goodnes I did not install that nor the SCer I have bought for it. The car is only daily driven like a normal car and does not get dogged out. I thought auto trannies were bullit proof for daily driven maximas I guess not then.

Once I master the 5 speed swap on my car. I will be doing 5 speed swaps in the atlanta area good news for everyone in the surrounding states. I want to see if I can do it in one day w/my assistant master tech 15yr brother.

Seems like that tranny was toast when you bought the car. I have about the same mileage on mine and it's still running like new. I do beat on it too.

exactly, see your tranny is holding up, my just died. I was going to do a 5 spd swap it but not now, late next year. The good thing is that my dad is going to fork out 75% of the cash to get it fixed he just called me and told me get the other max up and running!

I wish I lived near you guys because there would be nothing I wouldn't do to my ride. Maybe one day. I've been talking to my wife about moving there in the next few years.

Are you going to just NO2 that Max or turbo that one too?

I got all the nitrous accessories needed for this install. If I dont sell my 2k-2k1 SCer kit since this just happened then most likely I am going to install the 3.125 pulley on the blower itself and boost it 10.5PSI and call it the day. My father and brothers use this car. I want to see their faces when they slam on the gas pedal and get planted on their seats<---Priceless

Highly agree. I know I can yank off the auto tranny in less then 2 hours. I am getting all the rest of the parts as we speak. Need about 6 more parts.

One veeeerrrrrrryyyy long day. I did it in about 18 hours over two days, but I wasn't trying to set any records, just trying not to make any mistakes. By far the hardest part was getting the clutch pedal in. I hate working under the dash.
