my max got a big boo boo today...any help? (long)

Uhh...I got in quite a crash...I can't post pics right now cause I don't have a digital camera of my own. But it was my fault, so I am going to have a huge price to pay. Traffic was backed up really badly, and I was just being impatient, so I drove over to the lane next to the right lane, with two white striped safety zones on both sides of a side street entrance. When I started to accelerate, A car was turning left onto that street and dude to the traffic, neither of us could see the other car. She hit me, but luckily the airbag didn't deploy, and no one was hurt. But I will need a new bumper and hood, and clear corners at least. My step mom drove it home instead of me, and she said it pulled really hard to the right, and the brakes almost sounded like they were scraping. So, I need a new alignment, and I don't even know what to think about the brakes. I got a ticket for improper lane change, or improper lane usage, or something like that. What I am looking for is any helpful insight, or soothing words to calm me down.

I know in perspective, I got lucky, and I can't complain for me being stupid, but you've all been 17 once, I'm sure you could understand how much 700 dollars means to me. I went from researching different parts for my new system, to finding a body shop to give me a new bumper...now whenever I see my car, my stomach feels sick. But I'm alive, I'll get over it sooner or later.

Would taking a defensive driving course and then going before a judge help me whatsoever?

I feel your pain. I'm 17 too, and about a year ago I was driving in a parking lot, and some buttpipe in an Excursion backed out and totally raped my rear quarter panel. I thought I was gonna puke every time I looked at my car. ANYWAYS, after 3 weeks in the body shop and a $2000 payout from his insurance company its back to normal. Look at it this way, at least you werent hurt.

Now it says on the accident report that my ticket is failure to maintain lane...different from improper lane usage. Does anyone in GA know anything about either of these tickets? also, would taking a defensive driving class before the court date help?

sorry to see that. i got into an acci a couple of months ago similar but not as bad as to yours. it was determined the other person's fault and i got 960 duckets.. i think i'll wait till after the winter to get my ride fixed.

PS. you should look into getting an SE grille when you get the car fixed and get rid of the chrome... unless you like it.

the accident adds some character to your front end. You need alignment, and possibly new tie rods. brakes might be messed up just from driving it with the messed up steering. front bumper, lights and hood possibly (cant see the extent of hood damage from the pic) the front clip itself might be fine, and it looks like no frame damage. take it easy and HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I get what you mean...I'm 18 and hit this Miata that decided to stop all of a sudden when making a right turn on green arrow. I hit him at like 5 mph and apparently caused $1000 in damage to his car. $1000 could have been used for a LOT of things but instead its being used to pay for his Miata. Oh well, accident was my fault because I was behind him but I guess I have learned...expensive lesson but I've learned and you have too. And everyone's Ok so its cool..

Adjuster came today...new hood, left headlight, grill, and a refinish and repaint of the whole front end...1300 bucks, 500 from me. apparently when he opened my hood the grille just fell out, so I won't have a grille for the next couple days...I hope that's not dangerous.

Oh shyt it could of been worse. At least you weren't racing.
The car doesn't look like there was too much damage. It looks savagable. Just looks like you're not gonna get a visit from santa this year.
