- THE NEW - Which High-End wax/protectant is your favorite poll!
The existing wax poll doesn't include a lot of big names in the industry, so I thought I'd throw this one up. I realize Zaino, Klasse, etc. aren't technically "waxes" but they perform the same purpose. I figure the list above covers the most popular choices for enthusiasts. Oh, and you can pick more than one. So bring on the votes!
I use Gliptone stuff when detailing, we used to use 3m but gliptone is better priced and just as good,
Ive used some ardex stuff before but right now I have to get it from a supply truck which is a PITA plus the Gliptone factory is about 5 minutes from me, and with wholesale prices their stuff is the best.

I think many people underestimate Meguiar's because it's so widely available and affordable. "It can't be good if you can buy it from Advance AutoParts; You get what you pay for" only apply to a certain limit (I find Meguair's Professional series as that line). Meguiar's Professional series of products is a show worthy product line without a doubt. Even their consumer Gold Class line is effective enough to leave most consumer with a wide grin on their faces. Now neither will give you a concours quality shine, but our paint does not react well to most concours-type polished and waxes. I can safely say I've used over 40 waxes and polishes alone on my 1996 Nissan Maxima, from the cheapest TurtleWax to Pinnacle Souveran. I stick to Meguair's Professional series, due to it's good availability, excellent reactivity with my vehicle's paint, and show class shine.

Oh yeah. Zaino all the way. I've used everything you can think of. and sometimes I have it all in my trunk... as on org member put it. My trunk is a detailers wet dream lol. But Zaino has proven to me to be the best so far.

I've never used Zymol, but I do try to stay away from any wax sold at K-Mart...
I will also attest to what Vyrus says about Meguairs Professional Series. That stuff is ABSOLUTELY the best bang for the buck. Yellow Wax and Show Car Polish are both excellent choices. Basically any Meguairs in the tan/taupe colored bottles are good.
Glare Auto Polish. Take a look at www.autopolish.net
Vyrus is absolutely right in his assessment of Meguiars Professional Line of products. The ultimate shine is not about the final wax or sealant, but about the process of getting to that point. Megs has a Professional Line product for just about every situation you can encounter while prepping your paint. And, used correctly, they will give excellent, consistent results everytime (atleast for me and many, many others).
Meguiars products are on more Pebble Beach winners than any other manufacturer's product. That alone says a lot.
A lot of people put too much emphasis on what final product is used. But the key to detailing is the paint prep work(defect removal, polishing). With proper prep, even the cheapest dollar store wax will look good. Without proper prep, the most exotic, expensive last step product will look like doo-doo.

I haven't tried as many waxes as many of you guys, but from my experience Ibiz is a great wax. Goes on and comes off easy. I use it on my mom's 92 Grand Marquis about once a year and JESUS it makes that old car shine like none other. It brought the original paint on my aunts 66 Benz back to life. I have before and after pics if people want to see them. It's very interesting.
housecor, As you know I'm a big fan of Zaino - I use Z-2 and Z-6 on my '03 Majestic Blue Max. But I use products by Malm's to prep my paint. They make a couple of ultrafine polishes that make the finish like glass. I use the ultrafine that contains no wax before I start my Zaino sequence. I use both the ultrafine and the superfine (which has some wax for lubricating and protection purposes) on my other cars. Only the Max gets the effort of the repeated coats of Zaino.

Many have said it doesn't last but a month and that won't fair well in PA.

Right now I'm a big Einszett fan, but the jury is still out on how long it lasts.
Meg's professional is great, too. My favorite wax of all time is still Meg's #16 in the blue tin. Don't make the mistake of letting the salespeople move you down to the consumer products. I was talked out of buying a professional (tan bottle) 3-stage system and into the Deep Crystal stuff by the sales guy at my local auto body supply shop. Biggest mistake ever - totally wasted a whole weekend using it, when deep down I knew that I wanted the pro stuff.

Well, I just got my Max, so haven't done anything since the dealer in Dallas clayed and completely polished and waxed it about a month ago. However, I maintained the black clear coat paint on my 98 Chevy Tahoe with TFP, found at http://www.tfppolymer.com/. This stuff did an amazing job on my Tahoe and the paint still looked brand new after every application (one of the reasons it was so hard to let go of the Beast). I will probably give it a shot on the Max to see how it does and then make a choice from there.

How does this work? I have been using S100 by itself for a while. I haven't heard of combining it with anything yet though.
I use Meguiar's standard "Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax" (step 3 in their 3 step system) and it only lasts ~1 month at best. I just bought some #26 Yellow Wax, but I haven't had a chance to put it on yet. I think I read on Autopia that it should last ~2 months. So Klasse lasts ~6 months?

Apply klass aio glaze/sealant. Then coat with a layer of s100/p21s.

What?!? No Zaino users here? What on earth did you do Prinz, ban them all?
