Well I will be a newbie on all engine mods and stuff
heheh
but anyway
the basic exhaust system contains:
header
ypipe
cat
bpipe
muffler
(i might mixed the order there...some one correct me if I am wrong)
Ok...
If I get a cat back system....which part do I get?
It seems like a y pipe gives much gain....how much does it cost in terms of dollar VS ponies on the wheel ?
Preferably something that does not rust within 3 to 5 years.

(yeah weird question but that is kinda important....I would say a pony on the wheel for $20 is cheap, whereas $50 would be a tad high and etc)
anyhow...let me know
thank you

the order is....

Intake or Intake
Engine Engine
Y-pipe Y-pipe
B-pipe Cat-back (includes "b" pipe and muffler
Muffler

Y-pipe is definatly going to best your best bang for the buck. Increases mid-range acceleration, and will increase the noise of your car. Adds a nice deep tone when you open up the throttle. I would highly reccomend a Cattman Y-pipe. Cattman.com

Yes it is. Same order for all cars, for that matter. There is no question that the y-pipe is most superior in the order of intake/exhaust modifications. The y-pipe addition is typically mated with some form of after market intake as well. The y-pipe, in isolation, will not yeild nearly the same power out results with the stock airbox that it will with an after market. Cold-air intake, Stillen/K&N, JWT pop charger, HKS - those are your basic intake options in order of popularity on this board. Maxima's do not benefit much in the power dept. from muffler upgrades, unless you are specifically looking for more volume (audible), go for the intake 1st, y-pipe 2nd, b-pipe 3rd. There's your best dollars spent to power gained evolution.
