Want toi install new head unit in 2000 I30 with bose system
1. Does anyone make a OEM style trim that would fit around a single or double DIN stereo ? Or does it have to be custom made ?
2. Are all the speakers self amplified or is there a central amp that feeds the speakers
3. What is the impedence / size on these speakers ?
Any install pictures would be welcome
thanks

I have a 2000 Maxima with Bose. If your I30 setup is anything like mine then here goes.
1. I don't think I've ever seen any kit for the I30 dash. You'll probably have to have something custom made.
2. There is a central amp in the trunk mounted just beside the Bose subwoofer.
3. All Bose speakers run at 1 ohm which means you would need a converter to use them with an aftermarket headunit/amp. The front speakers are 6.5. The rear is a little trickier. Mine had 5.25 mounted on a plastic speaker holder. I'm not sure but I think you could put 6.5 if you removed the plastic thingamajig. Or, just install 5.25 like me and be done with it.
Good luck

yeah, if your bose is anything like the one in the thrid gens, then you can use an adapter from crutchfield that will allow the stock speakres to work wiht the new hu. mine cost around 70 but that only went from 89 to 99 nissan/infinity.
i have an older model 1996, i dont know what u stylre hu is, but i know that all hu can be taken out. now when u put a new one in it will be smaller, so u get a compartment below it so put **** in, and u can get a conveter easy. if u know of a car audio store by u go there and ask them for a converter. mine was like 30 bux, and i think the hu powers the speakers well in mine atleast i am not sure. as for the same style dont know look around. i dont know how diff ur model is than mine so be mindful lol

good info - the 2000 I30 has 7 speakers - 2 tweeters in the A pillar, 2 midrange (or fullrange) in the front doors, 2 midranges in the rear doors and a free air sub in the rear shelf. I was thinking of replacing all the speakers too so
MBQ seperates in front MBQ coaxials in the rear door connected to a 6 channel PPI amp and a dedicated amp for 2 12 inch subs in the trunk (Infinity perfect 12's) All this connected to a decent double din head unit in the stock location. Biggest issue so far is the facia / trim ring for the head unit. The stocker is really hard to duplicate.
