Nissan North America SUCKS!

Well I've been fighting with Nissan for 6 months now trying to get my coils changed due to the severe knocking and pinging. When I first went to the dealership they told me it was the MAF not the coils and said they were 98% sure that's what the problem was. So I spent $270 on a new MAF and updated software in the puter only to still have the same problem. I've taken the car in 20 -30 times to try to find the problem. Then they started giving me BS excuses about my K&N filter, told me I need a paper filter. SO I put a Napa filter in and then they said "It has to be a Nissan premium filter" So I apeased them still the same problem. I took it upon myself and changed the coils for $464 and spent 30 in installing them. FIXED! So I contacted the dealership that charged be $270 for the MAF and said I wqanted my money back because you misdiagnosed the problem. They told me they weren't liable because they were doing what NNA told them to do. Today I get a letter from NNA stating " We decline your request for assistance because your vehicle is out of warranty and because the vehicle had been modified and that they regret that this is not a favorable response. NO SH*T! My coils were under warranty when I first took the vehicle in. So I spent a total of $740 that I shouldn't have had to. Thanks NNA for the great customer service.... A**holes. Also I want to give my local dealership $270 worth of bad publicity...any ideas?

did this happen recently? Call your CC company and cancel the charge saying they charged you for something you did not get.

That should get some attention. You will probably have to pay because they did install a new MAF, but you might get something off the original price (labor maybe).

unfortunatley the MAF was done a few months ago. The flyers are a good idea, i also thought about sitting across the street with a huge sign in a pick up truck.

Take the dealer to small claims court...again, you probably will lose but it's like $20 to file and you might get them to give you the labor back as a gesture.

for the 3 years ive owned a maxima .. i have had nothing but problems with nissan dealers , i dont understand why .. .there just a bunch of cocky bastards , some stealerships you have to argue with them to do simple warranty work. since nissan techs already seem to know nothing about nissan .. imagin where they would be without CONSULT..

-Anthony

P.S. now i service my car at infiniti and everytime im in there i get a loaner car!!! (great service)

Imagine how I felt when I had to train the idiots at Performance in Snellville how to use the Consult II...

skalberti, file a complaint with the BBB against both the dealership and NNA. Write letters to James Morton, Jr. - Sr VP, Finance & Administration, NNA at Gardena, carbon copy Carlos Ghosn and Louis Schweitzer at Renault if you want. Remind them the reason Renault doesn't have a piece of the North American market on their own right is poor vehicle service and even worse customer service, just like Peugeot and FIAT.

If Nissan didn't have their bread and butter VQ, they as a company would have disappeared a long time ago.

I find that hard to believe. There's a member whose username I forget that is/was an Infinity tech, drove a 5th gen and he's stated he even wasn't allowed to work in his car where he works. The reason being that if all Infinity dealers started accepting Nissans for service work, nobody would ever go to Nissan after the initial purchase.

My Sunday paper said recall is over 2 mil vehicles world wide.
Could be they are tightening screws because of that.

But i will promise that if nissan ever treats me like that i will NEVER
buy another.

Next years Subaru Legacy has caught my eye. Better than Acura TL looks
and WRX power. And very mod responsive.

Boy Skalberti, if you can go Infiniti do it. They give you everything short
of a massage with a happy ending.

I tell you what , after all the crap I've been through with NNA and my coils, I nominate myself as the offical coil spokesperson representing everyone stepped on by Nissan

Infiniti of Mission Viejo had always serviced my 97 maxima, no problem at all .. dealerships and indep. owned and operated so im sure some have different guidlines to follow... but so far for me its been a great experience at infiniti!!!

I'd be careful about Subaru. My mom has a 2002 Legacy and is having major problems with "piston slap". Short block as replaced at 17k and the problem is still there. When it's cold the piston has to warm up untill it fits the bore. Untill that time the piston skirt is contacting the walls of the cylinders. Sounds like a deisel for 1-2 minutes. They tell her that it's "normal" and not to worrie about it. The problem is that to save weight and to get quicker RPM's they cut down the skirt on the piston and now it's flopping around untill hot.

It's not normal, is a design flaw.

Coils are covered under 3yr/36K ?
MAF should be covered 3yr/36K ?

If you had a pinging noise w/o Service Engine Soon lamp, the diagnosis was correct that the MAF was replaced, if the problem persisted, coils are tested and replaced. Problem persisted w/o SES, then ECM re-prog'd, idle learn, test drive.

If you had Service Engine Soon on w/code P1320 and P0300(301-6) Then all 6 coils should be replaced.

Security Plus Gold $0 deductible 7yr/100K extended warranty coverage for my vehicle. 2 Trannies, 12 coils, Crank Sensor, 2 rotors, towing, 3 rentals. I got my $1500 contracts worth from Nissan. Now I work for them. LoL.

CONSULT is not that hard to work with, you must have had some lousy techs or you were trying to train service reps.

my local news channel has this Consumer rip-off type special they run each week. they eat **** like this up! they always feature average joe's getting ripped off by local companies. most of the time, just the threat of the guilty party being featured on the 6:00 news gets the job done. if not, atleast it will give them some bad press.

your local news station may have something like it - perhaps you could consider doing this to your local dealership.

Ya we have this thing called 7 on your side. They do what your talking about. I told the manager that was one of the things I was going to do. He didn't seem too alarmed and said " I don't deal with threats". So i said "oh, its not a threat, its a promise."

Nissan has definately lost a future customer here. Theres always something wrong with my car and its constantly being towed. Im real close to painting on my windows "Nissan sold me a LEMON" and parking it in front of their dealership everyday and taking public transportation to work.

I went to a dealership with quasang 2 to see what the problem with his loss of power was. I lent him my MAF (that worked) and they told him it was the MAF. The baught a new one. Later that same day they told him it was the K&N filter and that he needed to have a paper filter. They said they would VOID his WARRANTY. I THINK HE wENT TO COURT FOR THAT.

If you don't know enough, DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU TAKE ON THE $TEALER. DO LOTS OF RESEARCH AND THEN WHEN HE BSs YOU, Throw it in his face. They can not Void your warranty for aftermarket parts. They sell Afermarket parts for Nissan's there.

You can do it. CUT THEIR FREAKING HEADS OFF!
I never had a problem that I had to go to the $tealer for, but I know from other's experiances that they are full of $hit.

After consulting with Maxxed03, I'm pretty sure he can get his problems resolved in a timely manner.

How about a little respect, and remember the golden rule.
Treat others, as you would like to be treated.

One day, you will need a dealership service dept to solve a problem on your car.
Your attitude currently is 'childish' to be blunt.
Granted I know there are animals out there, but how about you forget about that 5% of $hit talkin $tealerships, and think about the other 95% of dealerships who will give you a great car service experience.

I knew about Quansungs problem, and I know it was unfair judgement, but most people know the law on aftermarket parts.

While you're at it, add the stealer's name. I saw a guy driving a Chevy truck at my inlaws hometown this x-mas eve and it said "THIS LEMON WAS BOUGHT AT..." We all got a kick out of it.

I thought about a bumper sticker saying something like that , but then I thought............ why should my car's looks suffer for a dealerships ignorance?
